The youth employment contract (CEJ) is addressed under certain conditions to young people aged 16 to 25 and to persons under 30 years of age recognized as disabled. This contract may result in particular in internships, trainings and one civic service. The goal is access to sustainable employment. We present you the information to know.
FYI
The youth employment contract (YEC) is not not an employment contract.
To benefit from it, we must bring together both conditions related to age and others related to the professional situation.
Age-related conditions
The EYC is open to the following:
- Youth aged 16 to 25 inclusive
- Persons aged 16 to 29 years inclusive when recognized as disabled worker.
Conditions related to the professional situation
3 conditions must be met:
- Encounter difficulties in accessing sustainable employment (e.g. difficulty in having an open-ended contract)
- Not being a student
- Do not take training.

Other organizations (example: a local association involved in the subject of youth employment) may be required to offer this contract.
One application dedicated to the EYC allows the young person to:
- Exchange with your advisor
- See the appointments scheduled by his advisor
- Access job offers as well as work-study opportunities, professional immersions and civic service
- Access a simulator of aids.
The EYC is drawn up after an interview with the France Travail advisor (formerly Pôle emploi) or the local mission.
It may include the following:
- Professional situations (example: internship in a company)
- Training periods
- Phases of job search, alone or in group
- Missions of social utility (examples: civic service, Epidus, School of the 2nd chance).
The elements decided in the contract constitute what is called a program.
This program is of 15 to 20 hours per week throughout the contract.
This contract is the subject of the cerfa form n°16204.
In particular, the beneficiary undertakes to participate actively in all the actions planned and to be assiduous.
This contract is for one maximum duration of one year.
At the end of this period, France Travail or the local mission may extend this contract for a period of 6 months.
If, before the end of this contract, the beneficiary is engaged in a course or by a contract implemented by other integration or training organizations, the EYC is extended.
This extension takes place until the last day of the 2nde month following the end of the course or contract concerned.

Please note
A new EYC may only be concluded after 6 months from the end of the previous contract, except where the young person who has fulfilled his commitments under his first EYC is or has been confronted with specific difficulties.
Amount
This amount varies depending on the age and resources of the beneficiary:

Major tax-independent or connected to a non-taxable household
The allocation is €566.17 per month maximum.
Please note
This allocation is €322.71 in Mayotte.
Major tax autonomous or connected to a taxable household
Each income share of the household must be included in the 1st installment of the scale.
The allocation is €339.70 per month maximum.
Please note
This allocation is €193.64 in Mayotte.
Minor
The allocation is €226.48 for a minor who is in one of the situations following:
- It is fiscally autonomous
- It is attached to a non-taxable household for income tax purposes
- It is attached to a taxable household, each income share of which is included in the 1st installment of the scale.
This allocation is €129.08 à Mayotte.
Warning
France Travail and the local mission may consider that a young person in family breakdown is fiscally autonomous.

Payment of the allowance
This allowance is paid on a monthly basis.
The beneficiary must submit the supporting documents related to the payment of the allowance within 3 months.
Income tax
The allocation is not submitted to income tax.
Some resources cannot be cumulated with the YEC allocation. Others are deducted or partially deducted.
FYI
THEAAH and the allocation under the EYC shall be cumulative.
Resources that cannot be cumulated with allocation
These resources include:
- RSA unless you are dependent child of a household receiving RSA
- Remuneration under voluntary military service
- Compensation from single insertion contract.
FYI
A person in the YEC who has as a spouse, cohabiting partner or partner bound by a Civil partnerships: titleContent a beneficiary of the RSA may not receive the allowance under that contract.
Resources deducted from allocation
These resources include:
- Unemployment benefits
- Remuneration of vocational training trainees
- Remuneration received as part of a training course provided by second chance schools.
Resources partially deducted from the allocation
These resources include:
- Income from an employed or self-employed activity
- Legal or contractual aid to employees in partial activity
- Allowances received during statutory leave of absence maternity, paternity or of adoption
- Basic and supplementary daily social security allowances, received in the event of a medically established physical incapacity to continue or return to work, to work or to work-related illness.
France Travail or the local mission may reduce or even eliminate the allowance paid to the young person. For example, if the young person did not attend training without legitimate reason.
FYI
If the young person is enrolled in France Travail, the unemployment benefit may be reduced or abolished. The penalty cannot be a removal from the list of jobseekers.
France Travail and the local mission can continue to provide support after taking up a job to ensure the right professional integration.
In principle, a new EYC can only be signed 6 months after the end of the last EYC.
