You want to pass the B license and you wonder what it is Advance Driving Learning (AAC) with an Accompanied Driving Phase ? We tell you what you need to know.

Advance Driving Learning (AAC) is to be distinguished from the 2 other accompanied driving formulas : the supervised conduct and the framed driving.

Advance Driving Learning (AAC) relates to persons 15 years of age or older who wish to obtain the permit B.

Learning takes place in 2 phases:

  • A 1re phase of initial training provided by the driving school
  • One 2from phase of accompanied driving which makes it possible to have driving experience with a loved one (companion) before taking the practical test for permit B.

The phase of initial training consists of a theoretical part and a practical part.

  • The theoretical part prepare for code (general theoretical test or ETG)
  • The practical part prepares for the practical test of the permit B.

You pass the license for the first time

The duration of the training is 20 hours minimum, of which at least 15 hours on open lanes, or at least 10 hours when using a driving simulator.

You have an AM or B1 license

The duration of the training is 20 hours minimum, of which at least 15 hours on open lanes, or at least 10 hours when using a driving simulator.

You have an A, A1 or A2 license

The duration of the training depends on your progress in learning.

You pass the automatic gearbox license

The duration of the training is 13 hours minimum of which at least 10 hours on open lanes, or at least 7 hours when using a driving simulator.

Please note

If you obtain a B license limited to driving an automatic shifting vehicle for non-medical reasons, it is mandatory to take training to be able to drive with manual shifting. The training lasts a minimum of 7 hours. Ask at a driving school.

At the end of the practical training, or at any time at your request, the teacher performs a assessment of the skills you have acquired. If the assessment is satisfactory, the teacher gives you a certificate of completion of initial training. Otherwise, another assessment is made afterwards.

If you got the certificate of completion of initial training in the context of early driving learning, you get by equivalence the practical part of the road safety patent for light-duty motor quadricycle option.

To access the accompanied driving phase, you must complete all conditions following:

You must also fill in the conditions required to pass permit B.

You can have one or more accompanying persons : family members or friends.

Each companion must meet the 3 conditions following:

You must drive a vehicle of Category B.

The vehicle may be with manual or automatic gearbox.

It can be coupled with a trailer. If the PTAC: titleContent of the trailer is greater than 750 kg, the sum of the PTAC (car + trailer) shall not exceed 3 500 kg.

One self-adhesive or magnetized distinctive sign be affixed to the left rear of the vehicle.

You must participate in 2 educational meetings :

A 3e appointments can be organized on the advice of the driving school manager or the teacher, at your request or that of the coach.

The the presence of at least one of your escorts is mandatory every appointment.

Each appointment lasts 3 hours and includes a practical and a theoretical part:

  • The practical part consists of drive for 1 hour on the establishment's vehicle. The escort is seated in the back of the vehicle. The goal is to measure the progress you have made and to provide the necessary advice.
  • The theoretical part hard 2 hours. It can be organized as an animation bringing together several students and their accompanists. It covers the experiences of accompanied driving and the road safety topics in your learning booklet.

You must respect all rules following:

  • Drive in the presence of your guide. It must be sitting at the front from the vehicle, next to you.
  • Driving while 1 year minimum
  • Browse 3,000 km minimum
  • Drive in France. Movement abroad is prohibited.
  • Driving on the road network and motorway at different times of the day and the night and by various weather conditions.
  • Respect specific speed limitations.

The maximum speeds not to be exceeded are as follows:

  • 110 km/h on sections of motorways where the speed is limited to 130 km/h
  • 100 km/h on other sections of motorways
  • 100 km/h on 2-carriageway roads separated by a central median
  • 80 km/h on other roads
  • 50 km/h in agglomeration.

The following documents must be presented in the event of a roadside inspection by the police:

  • Certificate of Registration () of the vehicle, and if necessary from the trailer
  • Driver's License Application Form corresponding to the Certificate of Registration for a Driver's License (AIPC), in printed or dematerialized version
  • Valid driver's license of the accompanying person or Secure Driving Rights Certificate (ADCS).

You must have 17 years of age or older to pass the practical test of permit B.

Warning  

Until you're 17, you have to drive with your companion.

If you succeed the permit B after early learning to drive (AAC), the probationary period is of 2 years instead of 3 years.
