University: what are the fees in 2026?

To enroll in a higher education institution, you must pay registration fees and a student and campus life contribution (CVEC). For the academic year 2026-2027, the CVEC amounts to €105.

Since the academic year 2024-2025, the amounts of tuition fees in public higher education institutions are determined according to the national index of consumer prices excluding tobacco recorded by the French national institute of statistics and economic studies (Insee). The index is measured in January preceding the academic year in question. The amounts of the registration fees are thus revised each year.

For the academic year 2026-2027, the fees are set at:

• €178 for a national license or diploma issued in the course of studies leading to the degree of license;
• €255 for a master’s degree or a national diploma awarded during studies leading to the master’s degree;
• €398 for a PhD or an accreditation to conduct research;
• €2,620 for an engineering degree (except for engineering training courses started before 1^er September 2018, for which the annual tuition fee is €630).

When a student prepares several diplomas in the same institution, he/she first registration at full rate and others at reduced rate.

These reduced registration fees are fixed at:

• €118 for a national license or diploma issued in the course of studies leading to the degree of license;
• €167 for a master’s degree or a national diploma awarded during studies leading to the master’s degree;
• €265 for a PhD or an accreditation to conduct research;
• €1,747 for an engineering degree (except for engineering training courses started before 1^er September 2018, for which the annual tuition fee is €420).

Differentiated registration fees

Since April 2019, differentiated tuition fees have been introduced for non-French students, who are enrolled in a higher education institution for a national bachelor's or master's degree. These foreigners students must pay a different amount of tuition fees than French nationals.

For the academic year 2026-2027, differentiated tuition fees are:

• €2,902 for a national license or diploma awarded in the course of studies leading to the degree of license (and €1 934 for the reduced rate, applied to additional courses if enrolled in more than one course at the same institution);
• €3,950 for a master's degree or a national diploma awarded during the course of studies leading to the master's degree (and €2,633 for the reduced rate, applied to additional courses in case of enrollment in more than one course in the same institution).

Differentiated tuition fees do not apply to PhDs; for this degree, tuition fees are therefore set, as for other students, at €398 (and €265 for the reduced rate).
