      The B-permit allows driving a light motorcycle 125 or a 3-wheel scooter from the category L5e subject to conditions.

      Light motorcycle 125

      Step-by-step approach

      You can drive a car light motorcycle with a B-permit if you complete the 2 conditions following:

      • You have the B-permit since at least 2 years
      • You followed a training practice of 7 hours

      Please note

      If you have followed the training 3-hour practice before 2011No, you don't need to retrain.

      You are exempted from the training in the following 2 cases:

      • You obtained your B license (with A1 equivalence) before March 1980
      • You drove a car light motorcycle or a 3-wheel scooter from the category L5e between 2006 and 2010 and you have had a B license for 2 years or more.

      Warning  

      If you have a B license European, you must take the training.

      You can take the 7-hour hands-on training in a 1 month before the anniversary date of the 2 years of obtaining the B license.

      Example :

      If you received the B license on December 20, 2023, you can take the training as of November 20, 2025.

      The 7-hour training includes 3 modules :

      1. Module theoretical of 2 hours : analysis of accidents, driving in the rain or at night, protective clothing equipment...
      2. Module out of circulation of 2 hours : discovery of the vehicle, know how to make the necessary checks...
      3. Module in circulation of 3 hours (in and out of built-up areas): adapting speed to situations, negotiating a turn...

      The price of the 7-hour training is between €250 and €300 depending on the authorized driving schools or associations.

      Since prices are free, ask for quotes.

      When you register, the driving school gives you access to a digital training booklet.

      During a police check, you must present the following documents:

      Failure to do so can result in fines of up to €38. In general, it is a flat-rate fine of €11.

      If you are asked to present these documents to the police or gendarmerie within 5 days, you must meet this deadline or face a fine of up to €750. In general, it is a flat-rate fine of €135.

      • Information statement from your insurer. This document attests that you have driven a light motorcycle or a 3-wheeled scooter from the category L5e between 2006 and 2010.

      Step-by-step approach

      You can drive a 3-wheeled scooter from the category L5e (including more than 15 kilowatts) with a B-permit if you complete the 3 conditions following:

      • You've had license B for at least 2 years
      • You have 21 years or older
      • You followed a training practice of 7 hours

      Please note

      If you completed the 3-hour hands-on training before 2011, you do not need to retrain.

      You are exempted from the 7-hour practical training in the following 2 cases:

      • You obtained your B license (with A1 equivalence) before March 1980
      • You drove a car light motorcycle or a 3-wheel scooter from the category L5e between 2006 and 2010, you are 21 years of age or older and you have a B license.
