Which vehicles can be driven with the B license?

Category B of the license allows the following vehicles to be driven, subject to conditions:

Car or van
The B license allows you to drive a vehicle that has the following 3 characteristics:
- It is used to transport people or goods
- Sound PTAC is not more than 3,5 tons
- It has a maximum of 9 seats, including the driver.
One trailer can be coupled to this vehicle if one of the following 2 conditions is met :
- The trailer's PTAC is less than or equal to 750 kg
- The PTAC of the trailer is greater than 750 kg and the sum of the PTAC (car + trailer) does not exceed 3 500 kg.
The additional statement 96 to permit B is necessary if the following 2 conditions are met :
- The trailer's PTAC is greater than 750 kg
- The sum of the PTACs (vehicle + trailer) is more than 3 500 kg but not more than 4 250 kg.
To obtain additional 96, you must follow a 7-hour training in an approved establishment or association with the quality label.

Find a certified driving school near you
One digital training booklet is open to you when you register. The training is composed of an out-of-circulation (HC) sequence and an in-circulation (CIR) sequence. At the end of the training, a attestation is delivered to you.
Warning
The certificate of completion of the training does not authorize to drive. Only the addition of additional 96 on your driver's license authorized to drive vehicles falling within this category. It is the institution that issued you the certificate that requests this addition.
Tractor (agricultural or forestry vehicle or apparatus)
License B allows you to drive a tractor (agricultural or forestry vehicle or appliance) with a speed not exceeding 40 km/h, regardless of the weight of its trailer.
Lightweight 125 motorcycle and 3-wheel scooter
Permit B authorizes the conduct of a motorcycle light 125 and a 3-wheeled scooter from the category L5e under conditions. Consult the dedicated page.
Motorhome
The rule varies depending on the PTAC of the vehicle.
Motorhome up to 3,5 tons
Permit B authorizes the driving of a motorhome whose PTAC shall not exceed 3,5 tons.
Motorhome of more than 3.5 tons
Permit B issued before 20 January 1975 authorizes the driving of a camper whose PTAC is more than 3,5 tons.
If you drive abroad, the code 79 must be affixed to the driving license (motorhome/motor caravan code including PTAC exceeds 3,5 tons).
You may not drive a motorhome of more than 3.5 tons with the following B permits:
- Permit B issued on or after January 20, 1975
- License B issued before January 20, 1975, invalidated or canceled after that date
- Permit B issued before January 20, 1975 obtained following the exchange of a permit issued by another State (European or not) where such exchange took place after 20 January 1975
- Permit B issued before January 20, 1975 obtained following the validation of a professional diploma when this validation took place after January 20, 1975
- License B issued before January 20, 1975, obtained as a result of the conversion of a military license to drive when that conversion took place after January 20, 1975.
