This page presents the Road Safety Awareness Course which makes it possible to recover points. It does not present the road safety awareness course given by the judicial authority as an alternative to prosecution (conditional dismissal, criminal composition), as main sentence or additional penalty, or as an obligation under a probationary stay.

You can choose to take an internship for collect points on your driver's license. It is possible to recover up to 4 points within your license limit (the ceiling is 12 points, or 6 points for one probationary permit less than 1 year old).
Your license must be valid (you must have 1 point or more).
You can do 1 internship maximum per year allowing a reallocation of up to 4 points. For example, if you do an internship of 1eroctober to october 2, 2025, you can do a new internship from 1er October 2026.
The price medium of the internship is €200.
However, the person responsible for the internship is free to set the price.
Road Safety Awareness Course aims to prevent the repetition of dangerous behavior. It is facilitated by a road safety expert and a psychologist with authorization to lead the valid internships.
The internship lasts 2 consecutive days (7 hours per day) and includes 2 modules :
- Module on general factors of road insecurity (half a day)
- Specific module to prevent risky driving, either on speed and associated problems, or on driving under the influence of psychoactive substances (a day and a half).
If necessary, a personalized maintenance and/or a driving session can be organized. The interview, of at least 45 minutes, takes place outside the hours of the internship with a psychologist with a valid authorization to lead.

You must take the road safety awareness course in a establishment approved by the prefect. You can register for an internship in any department.
The list of approved establishments is available on the website of each prefecture. You can also contact the prefecture.
One certificate of traineeship you will be given if you have completed all the training.
You receive a letter (letter 47) indicating the points recovered (please note, the deadline for receiving the letter can be several weeks). In practice, the recovery is done the day after the last day of the internship but the points are visible on your license only when the administration registers your internship certificate. If you don't agree with your points balance, you can make a claim online or by mail.
Please note
If you took a road safety awareness course less than a month and a half ago, it is normal that your points are not visible on your license.
