Can a jobseeker benefit from training through France Travail?
Verified 30 January 2026 - Public Service / Directorate of Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)
Yes, as a jobseeker, you can benefit from training with the agreement of France Travail (formerly Pôle emploi). This training can allow you to acquire additional skills or learn a new trade. You can take training whether or not you are receiving the Return to Employment Assistance (RHE). Depending on your situation, you may receive financial assistance during the training period, subject to certain conditions.
Please note
If you have already worked, you have acquired training rights. You can then take the initiative to take training using your Personal Training Account (PTA).
The rules vary depending on whether you benefit from theReturn to Employment Assistance (RHE) Allowance :

You benefit from the ARE
You can continue to be compensated for the duration of your training if it is validated by France Travail.
FYI
Your contract of employment defines in particular the training actions that France Travail undertakes to implement.
If training is 40 hours or less, you always perceive the Return to Employment Assistance (RHE) allowance.
If the training is more than 40 hours, you perceive support for the return to employment training (Aref).
Aref replaces the ARE during the duration of your training. Its gross amount is the same as the WFAA. The Aref is paid up to the limit of your rights remaining before your entry into training. Thus, if the duration of your training is lower at the end of your entitlement, you will be eligible for the ERW again at the end of your training.
Example :
You register with France Travail and are entitled to the ARE for 600 days.
100 days after your registration, you will find a training course validated by France Travail lasting 300 days.
The first 100 days after your registration, you will receive the WFAA. Then, throughout the training period, you benefit from the AREF. There are 200 days left during which you will receive the ERW again.
If the duration of your training is superior as long as your rights remain, you may benefit under certain conditions from the end-of-training remuneration (RFF or R2F). This RFF therefore takes over from Aref.
You do not benefit (or no longer benefit) from the AER on the day of registration for training
You can benefit from the France Travail (RFFT) training remuneration for training validated by France Travail.
The RFFT is then paid to you during the training period.
Please note
The effective date and the amount of the RFFT will be specified in the letter of " Allocation of Training Remuneration France Travail ».
