Verified 07 August 2026 - Public Service / (Prime Minister)

Are you taking a training course validated by France Travail (formerly Job center)? During this training, you can benefit from the assistance to return to employment training (Aref) if you meet certain conditions. We present you the information to know.

You can receive the assistance to return to employment training (Aref) if you meet the following 3 conditions:

FYI

If you do not receive (or no longer receive) the ARE on the day of enrollment in training, you can benefit under certain conditions from the France Travail (RFPE) training remuneration.

The gross amount of the Aref is equal to the gross amount of the ARE you receive.

However, the contributions levied on the gross amounts of Aref and the ARE are not the same.

Aref is exempt from:

Only participation for the financing of the supplementary pension shall be deducted from the amount of Aref.

The net amount of the Aref may not be less than €22.99 per day.

Like ARE, Aref is taxable.

The Aref is paid each month, at maturity.

Example: early November for the October allowance.

The period of payment of the Aref may not exceed the period of the remaining ARE duties.

If the length of your training exceeds the length of your ARE rights, you can benefit under certain conditions from the end-of-training remuneration (R2F).

If you do not qualify for R2F, you can continue the training until its completion by maintaining the status of unpaid vocational training trainee.
