Baccalaureate: How will the anticipated math test be conducted?

The aim of the new math test of the general and technological bachelor's degrees is to check that students possess a number of basic skills and mathematical automatisms. Like the early French tests, this exam will be held at the end of the first class of the general and technological routes.

In particular, students must be able to:

• Solve an equation
• calculate a proportion and a probability;
• interpret statistical indicators.

This written test, which will take place in June 2026 for its first edition, will have a coefficient of 2. Three separate subjects will be established, as the mathematics curriculum differs depending on the pathway (general or technological) and the choice of specialties of the students. Every first-rate tech and general high school student will therefore to deal with the subject corresponding to the program which he has followed :

• the core math program of the first-in-technology class;
• the first-level mathematics curriculum in science education for general education pupils not in the 'mathematics' specialty;
• or the first-class specialty program for general pathway students in the "mathematics" specialty.

How will the anticipated math test be structured?

The test will last 2 hours, and shall be divided into 2 parts.

• One 1^re Part (marked on 6 points) will include calculations and multiple choice questions, to evaluate the acquisition of certain mathematical automatisms.
• One 2^of Part (rated on 14 points) will be designed to assess the mastery of basic reasoning and problem-solving skills, through 2 or 3 exercises independent of each other.

The use of the calculator will not be permitted for the entire test.

The results will be communicated to students in July, as for the early French tests.
