High school scholarship: all the information for the 2026 school year

The national high school scholarship is for students attending a public high school, a private high school entitled to receive national scholarships or a regional adapted educational institution (EREA). Higher education students in secondary schools are not affected.

It is allocated for one school year to families whose incomes do not exceed a certain ceiling; the latter varies according to the number of dependent children.

For the 2026-2027 school year, the level of your resources and the number of children you have to support must be justified by your tax (or non-tax) notice 2026 on your 2025 income. For cohabiting parents, the 2 incomes are taken into account. In the case of an alternating residence, the income of the applicant for the grant or that of his or her reconstituted household will be taken into account.

2026-2027 Campaign Calendar

The 2026-2027 high school scholarship application campaign begins on the day of the school year. It ends on 15 october 2026, whether your child is in a public or private school, and whether the application is made online or on paper.

For students enrolled in the Cned (National Center for Distance Learning), the deadline to apply is October 31, 2026.

If you gave your consent during the previous year for the automatic study of the right to the scholarship, you do not have to do this year, your right will be restudied automatically.

2026-27 Payment Amounts and Dates

For the 2026-2027 school year, the annual amount of aid is:

• €504 for step 1;
• €621 for step 2;
• €732 for step 3.
• €843 for step 4;
• €957 for step 5;
• €1,071 for step 6.

The scholarship is paid in 3 installments (end of December, end of March and end of June).

You can use the high school scholarship simulator proposed by the Ministry of National Education. It allows you to know if your household can benefit from a scholarship during the 2026-2027 school year and to estimate its amount.

How to apply for a scholarship for the 2026-2027 school year?

Your child is enrolled in a public school

You can consent to automatic study your right to a scholarship at the time of your child's enrollment or re-enrollment in the college for the 2026-2027 school year. This agreement is worth a scholarship application.

For the automatic study of the right to the scholarship, you are asked to fill in your civil status data (surname and first names, date and place of birth) as well as those of your potential cohabiting partner. This allows the recovery of the tax data necessary for the examination of your scholarship application. You are thus exempt from applying for a scholarship at the next intake by retaining your consent.

If you do not consent to this scheme, you can apply for a scholarship during the 2026-2027 campaign:

• using the online service Online service Scholarships via an EduConnect account or with FranceConnect ;
• or by downloading the form dedicated to the high school scholarship and by sending it to your child's institution with the supporting documents indicated.

Your child is enrolled in a private school

If your child is enrolled in a private institution under contract or entitled to receive national scholarships, the application is made using the same form and must be filed with supporting documents with the secretariat of the registration institution by 15 October 2026.

Your child is enrolled in Cned

The request is made using the same form, which you must send with the supporting documents to the Academic Scholarship Service at the latest on 31 october 2026 :

• for students enrolled in the Cned in general and technological high school: the application is made to the Scholarship Department of the Rennes Academy;
• for students enrolled in the Cned vocational high school: the application is made to the Scholarship Department of the Lyon Academy.

Additional premiums that can be allocated to scholarship students

Boarding bonus

It is granted automatically to all internal national scholarship students, and modulated according to the level of scholarship held by the student. Families don't have to fill out applications. Its annual amount varies from 327 € (1^er step) up to €672 (6^e step).

Bonus for student returning to high school

Young people aged 16 to 18 who have dropped out of their training and are resuming studies for professional purposes can benefit from a resumption of studies bonus (€600), in addition to the high school scholarship:

• young people who resume their studies after a break in schooling of at least 5 months;
• young people who are entitled to a national high school scholarship at the time of their resumption of studies.

The young person must enroll in a high school to resume training, inquire about the right to scholarship from the secretariat of the host institution and then apply for a scholarship.

Merit Scholarship (High School)

Scholarship students who have earned a Good or Very Good on the National Patent Diploma (NBB) are automatically awarded the scholarship on merit. The aim of this scheme is to help these pupils to continue their studies. Its annual amount varies according to the level of the scholarship, from 402 € (1^er step) to €1,002 (6^e step).

Premium for the purchase of equipment

This bonus of € 341.71 is paid in one installment with the first quarter of the scholarship to first-year students of certain specialties of CAP, vocational baccalaureate, technological baccalaureate or technician's certificate.
