College scholarship: all the information for the 2026 academic year

The college scholarship is awarded for one school year to families whose income does not exceed a certain ceiling; the latter varies according to the number of dependent children.

For the 2026-2027 school year, the level of your resources and the number of children you have to support must be justified by your tax (or non-tax) notice 2026 on your 2025 income. For cohabiting parents, the 2 incomes are taken into account. In the case of an alternating residence, the income of the applicant for the grant or that of his or her reconstituted household will be taken into account.

If your financial resources are modest, you can also claim other tuition subsidies such as the back-to-school allowance (ARS) or the college social fund.

2026-2027 Campaign Calendar

The 2026-2027 college scholarship application campaign begins on the day of the school year. It ends on 15 october 2026, whether your child is in a public or private school, and whether the application is made online or on paper.

For students enrolled in the Cned (National Center for Distance Learning), the deadline to apply is October 31, 2026.

If you gave your consent during the previous year for the automatic study of the right to the scholarship, you do not have to do this year, your right will be restudied automatically.

2026-27 Payment Amounts and Dates

For the 2026-2027 school year, the annual amount of aid is:

• €120 for step 1;
• €336 for step 2;
• €525 for step 3.

The payment is made in 3 installments, in each quarter of the school year: usually at the end of December, end of March and end of June.

You can use the college scholarship simulator proposed by the Ministry of National Education. It allows you to know if your household can benefit from a scholarship during the 2026-2027 school year and to estimate its amount.

How to apply for a scholarship for the 2026-2027 school year?

Your child is enrolled in a public school

You can consent to automatic study your right to a scholarship at the time of your child's enrollment or re-enrollment in the college for the 2026-2027 school year. This agreement is worth a scholarship application.

For the automatic study of the right to the scholarship, you are asked to fill in your civil status data (surname and first names, date and place of birth) as well as those of your potential cohabiting partner. This allows the recovery of the tax data necessary for the examination of your scholarship application. You are thus exempt from applying for a scholarship at the next intake by retaining your consent.

If you do not consent to this scheme, you can apply for a scholarship during the 2026-2027 campaign:

• or by using the Scholarships Online service online service (for all public colleges of all academies, access is made by connecting to the Schooling-Services portal via an EduConnect account or with FranceConnect ;
• or by using the college scholarship application form.

Your child is enrolled in a private school

Your request can only be made using the national college scholarship application form for the 2026-2027 school year. Once completed, the form must be sent or deposited at the secretariat of your child's college with the required supporting documents.

Your child is enrolled in the National Center for Distance Education (Cned)

Your scholarship application must also be completed using the form. This must be sent, together with supporting documents, to the academic department of the national scholarships of the CNED (at scholarship service of the Rouen Academy, which is located in the Eure, if your child is enrolled in a general education class; and scholarship service of the Toulouse academy, which is located in Ariège, if your child is registered in adapted general and vocational education class - Segpa).
