Your child is enrolled in college and you wonder if you are entitled to the college scholarship? To benefit from this, your annual resources must not exceed ceilings, depending on the number of children you have to support. The rules differ depending on whether the child is enrolled in a public or private college or the Cned: titleContent. We present you the information to know.

      Public College

      To qualify for the college scholarship, the child must be enrolled in college. You must have it load and your resources shall not not exceed a certain amount.

      Responsible for the child

      To benefit from the college scholarship, you must have the effective and permanent charge of the child. You must financially ensure its maintenance (food, housing, clothing). You must also assume your emotional and educational responsibility towards him.

      FYI  

      If you lose the care of the child during the year, the payment of the scholarship is withdrawn. The right to the grant of the new person responsible for the child is then examined.

      Married or Past Couple

      If you assume as a couple the burden of the child, the resources to be taken into account are those of the couple, even if a member of the couple is not the parent of the child. You will need to provide the common tax notice.

      If your child is alternating residence with the other parent, you must choose which one of you will receive the scholarship. If everyone applies, they will be declared inadmissible and no scholarships will be awarded. It is forbidden to provide a certificate from the other parent committing not to apply for a scholarship for the same student.

      Couple in cohabitation (common-law)

      If you assume as a couple the burden of the child, the resources to be taken into account are those of the couple, even if a member of the couple is not the parent of the child. You will need to provide tax notices for each member of the couple.

      If your child is in an alternate residence with the other parent, you must choose which one of you will receive the scholarship. If everyone applies, they will be declared inadmissible and no scholarships will be awarded. It is forbidden to provide a certificate from the other parent committing not to apply for a scholarship for the same student.

      Single parent

      If you are the sole caregiver of the child (single parent, divorced, separated, or widowed and not living in a couple), only your resources are taken into account.

      You will need to provide your tax notice.

      If your child is in an alternate residence with the other parent, you must choose which one of you will receive the scholarship.

      If everyone applies, they will be declared inadmissible and no scholarships will be awarded.

      It is forbidden to provide a certificate from the other parent committing not to apply for a scholarship for the same student.

      For the 2026-2027 school year, at the time of enrollment or re-enrollment of your child in college, you can give your agreement for the automatic study of your scholarship entitlement. This agreement is worth scholarship application. It is kept for the duration of your child's schooling in middle and high school. You won't no further steps to take so that your scholarship entitlement is studied at each start of school.

      If you do not want to give your consent for the automatic study of your scholarship entitlement, you must apply for a scholarship online or by completing a paper form. This request must be made between 1er September and October 15, 2026.

      You agree to the automatic study of scholarship law

      When your child enrolls or re-enrolls in college, you give your agreement for the automatic study of your scholarship entitlement. This agreement is worth a scholarship application.

      Your consent is collected via the registration online service or via the paper registration form provided by the institution.

      You provide information your civil status data (first and last names, date and place of birth), and your partner's, if you live in a common-law relationship. This allows the recovery of the tax data necessary for the examination of the scholarship application.

      You get an answer in the first trimester of the school year. If further information is required, you will be contacted by the department responsible for reviewing scholarship applications.

      You do not give your consent for the automatic study of scholarship law

      You must apply for a scholarship online between 1er September and October 15, 2026.

      Calculate the right to the college scholarship

      The college sends you a notification of award of scholarship, indicating the amount of it, or a notification of refusal.

      The scholarship is awarded for one school year.

      You can challenge the refusal decision or the amount of the scholarship within 2 months after notification of award or refusal.

      For this, you can make a administrative appeal before the director of the enrollment college or the rector of the academy.

      You can also appeal to the administrative judge.

      Who shall I contact

      The scholarship is paid in 3 times, à every quarter (usually late December, late March and late June).

      If your scholarship child is a half-boarder or a boarder, the half-board and boarding costs are deducted from the amount of the scholarship.

      The scholarship is paid by the accounting officer of the college, directly to your bank account.

      The college scholarship is conditional onattendance of the pupil.

      In case unjustified and repeated absences the duration of which since the beginning of the school year exceeds 15 days, a deduction may be made from the annual amount of the scholarship. The decision is made by the principal of the college. It must be justified.

      Private College

      To qualify for the college scholarship, the child must be enrolled in a private college under contract or in a private college under contract authorized by the rector of the academy to receive fellows.

      You must have the load of the pupil and your resources shall not not exceed a certain amount.
