If you are an apprentice, you can benefit from various assistance: scholarships, assistance for housing, transport, meals, health, etc. They vary depending on whether you are between 15 and 17 years old or at least 18 years old.
15-17 years
If your monthly net income does not exceed €1,144.21, your parents may be entitled to the back-to-school allowance (ARS).
- If your parents receive the high school scholarship and you are enrolled in the 1st year of a professional course (Technician's certificate - BT, certificate of professional competence - CAP, Professional baccalaureate, Technological baccalaureate), they can obtain the premium for the purchase of equipment by the student enrolled in the vocational course.
- Some regional councils also provide assistance to apprentices to finance their first equipment or material. Conditions may vary. You have to find out about the website of your region.
It is possible to obtain a financial support for the school canteen.
You can benefit from reduced rates and specific offers to travel by public transport.
- If you want to pass the B permit or the A2 permit or the A1 permit, you can get a zero-interest loan called permit at 1 euro per day. Once the loan is granted, the loan amount is paid to the driving school. You repay the loan by monthly installments €30 maximum.
- Some local authorities (city, department, region) offer aid to finance the driving license. One online service makes it possible to know the financial aid.
18 years and older
The aid vary depending on whether you will be a tenant, roommate or owner of your future home.
Personal housing assistance (APL, ALS, ALF)
You may be entitled to a personal housing assistance. It reduces the amount of your rent (or your royalty if you live in a household).

Help to pay the security deposit on your behalf
Via the device called Advanced Loca-PassAction, Housing can pay for you on security deposit which is requested by the owner of the property.
Help to pay part of your rent
- If you are on an apprenticeship contract in a private sector company non-agricultural, you can benefit from Mobili-Jeune support. It allows you to cover part of your rent (or fee for home-dwellings) for the duration of your work-study training.
- If you are on an apprenticeship contract in a company of the agricultural sector, you can apply for Agri-Mobili-Jeune assistance.
- Some Opco provide assistance to a young person becoming an apprentice to finance their first equipment or material. Ask your CFA before signing your contract.
- Some regional councils also provide assistance to apprentices to finance their first equipment or material. Conditions may vary. Learn more about the website of your region.
- Since May 4, 2026, the meal at €1 is available in Crous restaurants for all work-study students with a student card for the trades. You have to have a active Izly account.

Under certain conditions, you can get the complementary health solidarity (C2S). It covers health costs that are not reimbursed by the Health Insurance.
If you have a net monthly income greater than €1,144.21., you may be entitled to the activity bonus. This premium supplements the income of low-income earners and supports their purchasing power.

Several devices make it possible to obtain a financial assistance to pass the driver's license.
