Energy saving certificates (EEC)

The EWC scheme is based on an obligation imposed by the State on energy suppliers to encourage consumers to reduce their consumption.

To fulfill this obligation, they offer financial support to individuals wishing to make energy saving works in their homes.

EWCs provide funding for energy retrofit works included in an official list called standardized operation sheets.

These sheets define:

• the works concerned,
• the technical criteria to be met (e.g. minimum performance, equipment),
• the level of energy savings associated with each operation.

In the residential sector, nearly 60 types of works these include insulation (walls, roofs, windows, etc.), heating and regulation (thermostat, heat pump, etc.), hot water production, ventilation, etc

There's no no resource condition required. However, the amount of the premium may be higher for households with modest incomes.

All suppliers may propose an EEC premium, in particular:

• Electricity
• Gas or LPG
• Domestic fuel oil
• Heat and cold.

To apply for a bonus, you must respect the order of the steps following:

1. Select an energy supplier (or its partner). It is recommended to compare the offers available on the websites of several providers to find the most advantageous offer.
2. Accept the offer (contract or agreement) of the supplier (or its partner) corresponding to your project before any signature of quotation. This step formalizes your commitments.
3. Select a recognized professional environmental guarantor (RGE) to carry out the works. One official directory of RGE professionals is at your disposal.
4. Sign the quote offered by the RGE professional
5. Make realize your works by this professional
6. Send the file to the energy supplier (works invoices, signed quotation, signed sworn statement, proof of equipment performance).

An incomplete or non-compliant file may result in the refusal of the premium.

To secure your request, it is highly recommended respect the following points:

• Sign and date the estimate in handwritten or electronic form
• Check that the premium relates exclusively to works and/or installations and that the quote clearly specifies their nature (brands, references, performance...).) If it is personalized advice, for example, it will not qualify for the premium
• Make sure that the professional is RGE
• If the works are carried out by a subcontractor, checkr that the quotation mentions the name of the subcontractor and the fact that the works will be made by him
• Check that the quote does not include an indication of a down payment whose payment date would be before the signature of your contract or agreement with the energy supplier (this mention is false and prohibited).

The amount of the premium is freely fixed by each energy supplier. It depends in particular on:

• Of the type of works
• Energy savings generated
• Your income level
• From your geographical area.

Some suppliers offer to run a simulation on their website to make an estimate of the amount of the premium you can claim.

For some works that meet specific criteria, energy suppliers offer subsidized aid (i.e. the amount is higher) to persons whose income does not exceed certain limits. For example, the premium Heating boost.

The premium is paid by the energy supplier you have chosen after completion of works and the validation of your file.

Payment may take the following form:

• Either by bank transfer or by check
• Be deducted from your invoice
