Income tax: 2026 income tax return for 2025
This page is up to date at 1er January 2026.
However, forms, online services and information materials are not yet available for the 2026 tax year of the 2025 tax return. They will be put online as soon as they are available.
In addition, the draft budget law for 2026 could not be promulgated before 1er January 2026.
The law n°2025-1316 of 26 december 2025 The Special Authorizes the Government to Collect Taxes, Without Modifying the Scales, Until the Adoption of a Budget Law for 2026.
If the Finance Law for 2026 changes the rules presented on this page, the content will be updated after the publication of the Finance Law in the Official Journal.
In case of error or omission, you can correct your tax return. Terms and conditions vary depending on whether you file online or on a paper form.

You reported your income online
The correction depends on the declaration concerned.

Before the deadline for filing your return
From the opening of the online return (in April 2026), you will be able to modify your return from your particular space on the tax website (we talk about amending declaration).
You can do it as many times as you need.

Warning
If you file your return, not just a correction, after the online filing deadline, you risk a penalty for late declaration.
In the event of a finding of an error after receiving your tax notice, it will be possible to correct your return online, in your Personal area on the tax website.

You can also use this service if you have benefited from a automatic declaration.
Please note
If you have declared your income online on the mobile application "taxes.gouv", you can correct your declaration on smartphone or tablet.

- Change in family status (marriage, Civil partnerships, divorce, death, etc.)
- Updating the civil status
- Change of address.
You will need to request these changes using your secure messaging from your Personal Space.

As a self-employed person (tradesman, practitioner or medical assistant and liberal profession), you can correct your social and tax tax returns.
Changes will be made automatically transmitted to the Urssaf(and the liberal professions pension fund if you are a member).
The amount of your social contributions will be adjusted.
You will be able to correct the amounts entered in the boxes, check or uncheck the incorrect boxes.
A confirmation email will be sent to you at the end of the procedure.
You will receive a new tax notice.

If you have not made the correction in time, you can lodge a complaint.
You can do it until december 31, 2026 for the 2024 tax return.
You can file your claim online from your specific area.

Before the deadline for the submission of the declaration
You can't use the online correction service.
You will have to file a new paper tax return at your personal income tax department.
You will need to specify the following:
- Specify "AMENDING, CANCELING AND REPLACING DECLARATION" on the first page
- Re-enter all items you need to declare, including the correct items in 1re declaration.
