Can the Third Party Compensation Allowance (TPIA) still be collected?

Verified 01 April 2026 - Public Service / Directorate of Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)

Yes, the Third Party Allowance (TPIA) was replaced in 2006 by the disability compensation benefit (PCH), but you can continue to collect CCTA if you already received it.

To do this, you must continue to fill in the set of conditions following:

  • Have a minimum disability rate of 80% recognized by the Commission on the Rights for the Autonomy of Persons with Disabilities (CDAPH)
  • Use a third party (caregiver, caregiver...) to help you with essential daily activities (for example: eating, walking, dressing)
  • Reside in Metropolitan France or in Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, Reunion, Saint-Barthélemy, Saint-Martin or Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon
  • Be a French national or have a valid residence permit
  • Have resources less than or equal to the resource ceilings to collect the Disabled Adult Allowance (DAA).

There is no age limit for continuing to collect CCTFA.

However, from the age of 60, you can apply to collect Personalized Autonomy Allocation (Apa) in place of CAPT.

The amount of the ACTP varies depending on your state of health and the degree of need to use a third party to help you with everyday activities.
