What is the difference between a school road safety certificate of 1er level (ASSR1) and 2d level (ASSR2)? We tell you what you need to know.
Access to SRO Hands-on Training
Holding the ASSR of 1er level (ASSR1) or ASSR of 2d level (ASSR2) is mandatory to access the practical training of BSR: titleContent.
ASSRs can be replaced by the road safety certificate.

The SRO corresponds to the category AM of the driving license. Any driver of moped or light motor quadricycle, born in 1988 or later, must have either a driver's license or an SRO.
Obtaining a first driving license
Holding the ASSR2 is mandatory to obtain a 1re category of driving license (permit A, A2 , B or (B1) if you are under the age of 21.
ASSR2 can be replaced by the road safety certificate.
ASSR of 1er level (ASSR1) and 2d level (ASSR2) are obtained in the framework of compulsory education on road safety rules.
They are issued during school time after a test of theoretical knowledge. The tests take place every year between the beginning of the 2e term and end of school year.
ASSR1
The ASSR1 test is organized every year for the following students:
- Class pupil of 5e or corresponding level
- Pupil of another class and reaching the age of 14 years in the course of the calendar year.
ASSR2
The ASSR2 test is organized every year for the following students:
- Pupil class of 3e or corresponding level
- Pupil of another class and reaching the age of 16 years in the course of the calendar year
- Pupil over 16 years of age enrolled in a school.
The issuance of a Level 1 or 2 road safety certificate is free of charge.

Student enrolled in a school
The school in which the pupil is enrolled takes care of registering him for the ASSR tests.
Student enrolled in the Cned
If the pupil is enrolled in Cned: titleContent, a written request should be addressed to Academic Director of National Education Services (DASEN) of department of residence.

If the student follows a family education (home school), a written request should be addressed to Academic Director of National Education Services (DASEN) of department of residence.

Pupil enrolled in a private school without a contract
If the student is enrolled in a private institution not under contract, the director of the institution is responsible for registering it in an establishment which organizes the ASSR tests.
Pupil enrolled abroad
The approach varies according to the student's school conditions.
Student enrolled in a French school
If the student is enrolled in a french establishment abroad belonging to the network of the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE), the establishment takes care of registering it the ASSR tests.
Pupil enrolled in a foreigner institution
You must contact the french consular authorities to find out how to register for the ASSR tests in a local French establishment.

Please note
If the student has a visual impairment Preventing him from passing the ASSR tests, a modified test is proposed. One Certificate of Road Education (AER) it is issued in case of success. However, having the AER does not entitle you to register to learn how to drive a vehicle and to obtain a driving license.
The preparation of road safety certificates is organized during school time in the framework of compulsory road safety education. Some training sessions can be organized via the digital platform for preparing and issuing road safety certificates.
Prepare and pass the road safety certificate tests on the national platform of the RSAs, RSAs, AER
The student can train on the site for the preparation of road safety certificate tests :
Preparing for road safety certificates (ASSR1, ASSR2, ASR, AER)
The student takes the ASSR tests on the national road safety certification platform from a computer or tablet.
The test shall comprise 20 questions à multiple choices.
The questions concern traffic, passengers, speed, civic behavior, first aid, health and risky behavior…
The student must have 10/20 or more to obtain ASSR 1 or ASSR 2.
He can know your grade from 6pm on the day of the exam by connecting to the national road safety certification platform.

If successful, the institution where the student took the ASSR test issues the ASSR1 or ASSR2 diploma, as appropriate.
Reminder
ASSRs do not authorize the driving of a motor vehicle.
If the student fails (less than 10 /20), he must ask the institution where he took the ASSR to know the date of the catch-up session.
In the event of loss or theft of the ASSR 1 or ASSR 2, a written request must be addressed to the school where the student took the examination. The application must attest to the successful completion of the ASSR1 or ASSR2 test, as applicable. Specify the student's first and last name, the school and the year of the session of the test, and attach a certificate of loss or theft of the ASSR.
The establishment will issue a duplicate or a certificate of achievement.
The fees related to the cost of reproduction and shipping may be requested.

In case of loss or theft of your ASSR2, you can make a declaration on honor to make the application for a driving license.
