The Daily Parental Attendance Allowance (DPA) is a financial aid. It is given to you under conditions to allow you to temporarily stop your activity to take care of your child.

You must temporarily stop your activity to take care of your child.

Your child must be less than 20 years old, be at your expense and need a sustained presence and compelling care as a result of a disease or disability or an accident of particular severity.

      Cessation of professional activity

The main people eligible for AJPP are:

      FYI

The residence requirement for receiving family benefits is subject toa specific regulation.

      Medical situation of the child

A medical certificate must attest to the particular severity of the child's illness, disability or accident.

It must be established by the doctor who follows the child for illness, disability or accident.

      The certificate shall specify:

      • The nature of compelling care
      • The modalities of your presence alongside the child
      • The expected duration of treatment of the child.

The certificate must be sent in a closed envelope with your request to your Caf: titleContent or MSA: titleContent.

The organization will refer the child to the medical control department of the health insurance fund to which the child is affiliated as aright holder.

The doctor of the medical control department of the health insurance fund must give a favorable opinion.

Pending such notice, the AJPP may be advanced.

      FYI

You will be asked for proof of your situation.

Example: if you are an employee, a certificate from your employer stating that you are on parental leave.

The approach differs depending on whether you depend on the Caf: titleContent (general regime) or MSA: titleContent (agricultural scheme):

      FYI

Supporting documents and date of payment

The payment of the AJPP shall be made after examination by the Caf: titleContent or the MSA: titleContent from the monthly AJPP certificate. It specifies the number of days of absence during the month. For employees, this certificate is completed by the employer.

In order to receive the supplement for expenses, a sworn statement indicating the amount of the expenses incurred must be presented.

The AJPP is due from 1er day of calendar month in the course of which your application is filed, provided that the conditions for entitlement are met by that date.

It is paid in arrears (January paid in early February, etc.).

The allowance shall cease to be due from 1er day of the calendar month following the calendar month in which the conditions are no longer met.

      Sharing between parents

The right to AJPP may be opened simultaneously or successively to the 2 members of the couple for a calendar month.

      Several situations are possible:

Répondez aux questions successives et les réponses s’afficheront automatiquement

The 2 parents stop simultaneously for a full month

They will receive only 22 PJIAs even if they have stopped a total of 44 days or more.

The 2 parents stop simultaneously for 11 days

They will receive 22 AJPPs for 22 days off.

The 2 parents stop alternately 11 days each

They will receive 22 AJPP days for a total of 22 days off.

The situation varies in particular if you are undergoing training or seeking a job with compensation:

      General case

The amount of AJPP per day is €66.64.

The amount of AJPP per half day is €33.32.

      Please note

À Mayotte, the amount of the AJPP per day shall be €58.31 and per half-day of €29.20.

You are in paid vocational training

You perceive a monthly lump sum allowance equivalent to 22 days of AJPP as soon as you stop your training.

You are a job seeker compensated by France Travail (formerly Pôle emploi)

The AJPP is taken per day and not for half a day.

You must inform France Travail monthly of the number of AJPP days taken per month. Your compensation will then be recalculated.

      Opening the right to AJPP

The right is open on calendar month during which 3 conditions are met:

      • Submission of the application accompanied by the medical certificate
      • Certification of honor for professional activity
      • Need for parental presence and compelling care.

Duration of the right to AJPP

The right to AJPP is open for a maximum period of 3 years.

During this period, the parent is entitled to a maximum of 310 days of daily allowancetherefore, 310 days of absence to be taken according to the needs of presence with the child.

The maximum number of daily allowances per month is 22 days.

The right is granted for a period equal to the foreseeable duration of treatment, as determined by the doctor following the child.

      FYI

      You can take half days.

      Renewal

The situation varies depending on the expected duration of treatment:

Répondez aux questions successives et les réponses s’afficheront automatiquement

Expected duration of treatment may be less than 6 months

The right to PJIA ends at the end of the treatment.

In case of relapse, the right can be reopened. The duration of the entitlement period and the maximum number of daily allowances that may be paid shall be calculated from the initial date of entitlement.

      Please note

In case of new pathology (not relapse), a new right can be opened.

Expected duration of treatment greater than 6 months

When the doctor expects it, the expected duration of treatment is reviewed at the time he has set: between 6 months and 1 year.

When the foreseeable duration is greater than 1 year, it is subject to a new review at that time.

The right to AJPP is open in periods of 6 to 12 months.

In case of renewal, you must reapply to the Caf: titleContent or MSA: titleContent at the end of that period.

The right to the AJPP ends:

      • At the end of the treatment
      • At the end of 3 years
      • At the end of the 310 days.

In case of relapse, the right can be reopened. The duration of the entitlement period and the maximum number of daily allowances that may be paid shall be calculated from the initial date of entitlement.

      FYI

In case of new pathology, a new right can be opened before the end of 3 years.

      Beyond 3 years

The right to the allowance may be reopened for 310 days and for a new period of 3 years in 2 cases:

      • Relapse or recurrence of the pathology
      • A presence always requiring a sustained presence and restrictive care.

      Renewal during the 3-year period

In case of new pathology, the right to AJPP can be opened for a new period of 3 years and for 310 days.

In addition, when the maximum number of daily allowances (310) is reached, the 3-year period may be renewed before the end of the term:

      • For the same disease
      • For the same disability
      • As a result of the accident of which the child was victim.

      FYI

The recipient sends the new medical certificate to the Caf: titleContent or to the MSA: titleContent (for the attention of the medical control department).

This certificate attests to the indispensable nature of the continuation of binding care and a sustained presence.

Thus, under certain conditions, a parent who has used the 310 days of AJPP can benefit uninterrupted twice as many days of JPY (i.e. 620 days).

A monthly supplement can be awarded if the following 3 conditions are met:

      • Monthly expenses required by the child's state of health (not reimbursed by the Social Security or by the mutual insurance) are incurred by the family
      • These expenditures exceed €129.36 per month
      • The household's resources do not exceed a certain ceiling.

      Resource cap

Your resources must not have exceeded an amount determined according to your situation. It's the categorical net income from 2024 that is taken into account for 2026.

The amount of resources varies depending on whether you live as a couple or alone:

THE AJPP is not cumulative, for the same beneficiary, with the following benefits:

AJPP cannot be combined with unemployment benefits.

The recipient of the AJPP therefore sees the payment, by France Travail (formerly Pôle emploi), of his unemployment benefits suspended during the period of receipt of the AJPP.

Once the JPY entitlements are exhausted, the payment of unemployment benefits resumes and continues until their end.
