Verified 22 August 2025 - Directorate of Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)

Yes. The Zero interest rate loan (PTZ), the loan agreement (PC) and the social accession loan (PAS) are reserved for the purchase, construction or completion of work in your main residence.

To be considered your primary residence, you must occupy it at least 8 months per year.

But it can still be considered your main residence when you occupy it for less than 8 months per year for at least one of the following reasons:

  • Case of force majeure
  • Health Reason
  • Obligation related to your professional activity that involves regular travel
  • Absolute need for service related to your status or employment contract, or that of at least 1 of the other people who have to live in the accommodation
  • Distance from your place of activity or that of at least 1 of the other people who must live in the accommodation, for a maximum of 3 years
  • Rented accommodation pending your next retirement.

The accommodation covered by the PTZ, the PC or the PAS must be your main residence:

  • Or at the latest 1 year after its purchase or the end of the work
  • Either from your retirement, which must take place no later than 6 years after its purchase or the end of the work. Until you retire, you can rent the accommodation under certain conditions.
