Registration of tractors and agricultural vehicles

All agricultural and forestry machinery must be registered, whether owned by an individual or attached to a farm. In order to drive, the owner must hold a certificate of registration (previously called ) The procedure can be carried out on the internet or at an authorized professional. Internet

An agricultural and forestry machine must be mandatory registered as other vehicles.

This obligation applies to all agricultural rolling stock:

  • Agricultural tractor (TRA) with wheels or tracks
  • Self-propelled agricultural machinery (MAGA), e.g. combine harvester
  • Agricultural vehicle towed (REA) of which the PTAC is more than 1,5 tons. These are categories R (trailer and semi-trailer: bucket, platform, tool holder, etc.) and S (machine and towed agricultural instrument: sprayer, roller, semi-mounted seeder, for example).

Please note

Agricultural and forestry vehicles, like any motor vehicle, and the trailer (even if not coupled) must be covered by a insurance.

To obtain your certificate of registration, you must have a digital copy (photo or scan) of following documents which vary according to whether the tractor is new or used:

New tractor

  • Proof of address less than 6 months
  • Form cerfa no. 13749
  • Certificate of conformity issued by the manufacturer or equivalent (or certificate of identification to a Community type, or single approval report if the tractor is not approved).

If you ask someone to do the process for you, you must provide them with a digital copy of the mandate signed and your identity document.

Used tractor

  • Proof of address less than 6 months
  • Form cerfa no. 13750
  • Certificate of Registration
  • Certificate of conformity issued by the manufacturer or equivalent (or certificate of identification to a Community type, or single approval report if the tractor is not approved).

The amount of the registration certificate shall be €13.76 (€11 of fixed tax + €2.76 routing fee).

The application for registration of an agricultural vehicle shall be made on the website of theANTS: titleContent.

You must log in to the ANTS website by logging in either via France Connect, or via the application France identity.

Request the approval of an agricultural vehicle

One farm number agricultural is now issued as part of the online application for a registration certificate. To obtain it, you must be affiliated with the Mutualité sociale agricole (MSA).

The mention Agricultural use shall be shown on the certificate of registration.

Tire trailer, semi-trailer

  • PTAC 1,5 ton: removable registration plate at the rear (with tractor registration number)

One manufacturer's plate shall bear in an apparent manner the name of the vehicle or its make or symbol identifying it, the type, the serial number in the type series and the weight characteristics of the vehicle.

If the agricultural vehicle or equipment has a PTAC: titleContent greater than 1,5 tons, the manufacturer's plate shall also include the address of the manufacturer.

Please note

Driving without license plates or with non-conforming or non-conforming plates may result in a fine of up to €750.

Track your application for a Certificate of Registration

You will receive the final registration certificate, sent by La Poste in followed letter, at your home within a period that may vary.

It may take a few days or even weeks to process your application for a registration certificate for the most complex cases. Timelines also vary depending on the time of year: a high volume of applications can extend processing time.

You must pay attention to the address you provide in the online procedure. It must be as complete as possible (building number, apartment number, letterbox number, floor, corridor, staircase, “resident at home”, etc.).

Your mailbox must show your first and last name.

You can track the shipment of your registration certificate either with the registration number or with the tracking number of the Post Office. This tracking number has been communicated to you by email or SMS if you have entered your mobile phone number.

Upon receipt of your registration certificate, if you hold a national identity card (CNI) in bank card format, you can also download your digital certificate of registration in the application France identity.
