When will the elections of the councilors of the Frenchmen of the foreigner take place?

If you are French settled abroad, you can vote for the election of advisers of the foreigner Frenchmen. These advisers represent the French at embassies and consulates, give their opinion on social aid, school scholarships... and elect senators and advisers to the Assembly of the French foreigner.

The elections of the councilors of the Frenchmen of the foreigner will take place on May 30, 2026 for the Americas and the Caribbean and the May 31, 2026 for the rest of the world. Voting via the internet will take place from 22 to 27 may.

Registration on a consular electoral list

In order to vote for the election of the councilors of the Frenchmen of the foreigner, you must be registered on a consular electoral list. Registration is possible until friday, 24 april.

But if you're one of the derogating cases (18-year-old, recent move, recent acquisition of French nationality, recently recovered voting rights), you can register until:

• May 20 for the Americas and the Caribbean;
• May 21 for the rest of the world.

To check your registration on a list of electors, your polling station, your national voter number or current powers of attorney, you can use this online service: Register on a list of electors (login with FranceConnect or with your Public Service account).

The vote

1/ To vote at a polling station, you must:

• be registered on the Consular Electoral List (CEL);
• and present a proof of identity.

The connection to a polling station depends on the address of residence. You can check and update your contact details (home address, phone number and email address) on Public Service. You will receive by mail and/or post a letter of invitation with the contact details of your consular polling station a few weeks before the election.

2/ Voting by Internet will take place from 22 May at 12:00 (Paris time) until 27 May at 12:00 (Paris time).

To do this, it may be necessary to update your contact information in the register of foreigners. You must also verify your personal information on Public Service or by contacting your consulate so that the administration can send you your username (by email) and your password (by SMS). No further formalities are required.
