Can I vote online for political elections?

The rules are different depending on whether you vote in France or from the foreigner:

In France

You cannot not vote online.

To vote, you must go to your polling station with a proof of identity, the day of voting.

But if you plan to be away that day, you can make a proxy of vote. Making a power of attorney allows you to charge another voter with vote for you at your polling station on the day of the vote.

From the foreigner

For voting by internet, you must respect the 3 following conditions :

  • Living abroad
  • Be registered on a consular voters list. You can check your voter registration using this online service.
  • Have indicated, when registering, an email address (e-mail address) and a telephone number. This data is necessary to communicate a username and password.

Election of French foreigner councilors

During the election of the councilors of the Frenchmen of the foreigner, you can voting by internet from 22 May 2026 at 12h (Paris time) as of 27 may 2026 at 12 noon (Paris time).

For this, it may be necessary to update your contact information in the foreigner's French register before a deadline.
