The attestation of good repute is mandatory throughout the country for professionals and volunteers involved in the field of child protection and early childhood care (childminders, family assistants, professionals and volunteers of nurseries, homes, etc.). Since 1er February 2026, this obligation is extended to candidates for adoption.

By extending the certificate of good repute, the Ministry of Health, Families, Autonomy and Persons with Disabilities strengthens its action in favor of child protection.

The attestation of good repute is an official document guaranteeing that a person does not have a written conviction in a criminal record or on the automated criminal record of perpetrators of sexual and violent offenses (FIJAISV) that prevents intervention with minors.

It has been mandatory since October 2025 for all professionals and volunteers involved in the field of child protection and early childhood care.

Since 1er in february 2026, it is also mandatory for people entering into adoption proceedings. It must be produced at the time of the application for approval and its renewal, and at each annual confirmation of the draft adoption.

Reminder

Accreditation is the first step in the adoption procedure. It is awarded if the persons wishing to adopt do not have a criminal record incompatible with the reception of a child. It is issued by the departmental council for a period of 5 years, renewable.

Certificate of good repute for an adoption: how to proceed?

1/ You must send a valid certificate of good repute (less than 6 months) to the departmental council of your place of residence:

  • when you apply for approval;
  • at the time of renewal, every 5 years;
  • at the annual confirmation of the wish to adopt.

Without a certificate of good repute, the departmental council cannot examine your application or maintain your active application file.

2/ The request must be made on the website dedicated to the attestation of good repute (page “I am a candidate for adoption”), after you create your account.

3/ You will receive the document in your “Personal Honorability Area” within an average of 15 days.

FYI

The system is to be extended in 2026 to professionals and volunteers working with children with disabilities.

The draft law on the interests of children provides for the extension of background checks to persons taking a child into their home: trustworthy third parties, parents taking a child into a kafala (adoption procedure specific to Muslim law akin to a guardianship or delegation of parental authority), members of the home of prospective adoptees and long-term and voluntary foster carers.
