The tax horse rate is revised upwards in several regions in 2026, with an impact on the regional tax and therefore on the price of the car. Public Service provides an update on the amounts by region in 2026. You can know the amount of the tax horse in your area and calculate the cost of your {tilde over (2)} thanks to 2 simulators.

The regional tax (or Y1 tax, as it appears on your {circumflex over (Y)}) is one of the taxes that make up the cost of your (or certificate of registration). The amount of the tax horse is set by the regional councils and can be revised every year. In 2026, it is increasing by about 2.4% nationally.

Its ceiling is set at €60. Some regions had reached it in 2025; others are reaching it this year such as the Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur region and Reunion.

FYI

The finance law for 2026 applies a special tax to the Île-de-France region for the regional tax from March 2026. One flat-rate increase of €14 is applied to any vehicle owner residing in the Paris region. This flat-rate increase will increase to €12 in 2027.

The rate of the tax Y1 (regional tax + surcharge) in Île-de-France will thus pass the 1er March from €54.95 to €68.95. This increase is intended to finance the investments needed for public transport in the Paris region.

Two simulators can estimate the overall cost of registration based on the fiscal power of the vehicle and the region where you live:
