Request for identity correction in the Insee directory

If you find an error concerning your identity during an administrative procedure (taxes, vital card, census, elections, etc.), you can request a correction to theInsee: titleContent.

The requested correction must be in accordance with the information contained in your birth certificate. For example, it could be an error in your birth name (also called last name), your first names, your sex, your date or your place of birth. On the other hand, the approach is different if it is a error in a civil status document.

THEInsee: titleContent manages the national register of natural persons (RNIPP) which groups together the civil status of persons born in France and the registration number (Nir) corresponding to the social security number.

In summary:

  • Person who has observed a error in his identity on the occasion of an administrative procedure and wishes to have it corrected. Be careful : persons born in New Caledonia or abroad must make the request for correction to a social security organization (social security fund, mutual, pension fund, Caf, etc.), or, if the error concerns their electoral card, to their voting commune.

Comment faire ?

  1. Indicate for which person the procedure is done
  2. Enter the requested information and attach 1 full copy dated less than 3 months of the birth certificate of the person concerned
  3. Verify the entered information and send the request

Reminder

The corrections requested must be in accordance with the information contained in the birth certificate. The approach is different if it is a error in a civil status document.

Prepare the following:

  • Full copy dated less than 3 months from the birth certificate the person concerned by the request for rectification (apply for a birth certificate)
  • Directory identification number (social security number) if the application concerns a person of full age.

  • Consideration of the request
  • Ongoing treatment with theInsee: titleContent
  • End of treatment withInsee: titleContent (completion of the requested correction or refusal of the requested correction with an explanation message)
