Can a child change schools during the year? - Private school enrollment

Verified 10 janvier 2024 - Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)

Your situation

  • You want to enroll your child in a private school
Edit

The conditions for enrolling a child in a private school vary according to the institution.

You must inquire with the school department of the chosen school.

Once the school has agreed to take your child in, you report your decision to change direction to the school where the child was enrolled.

The old school then transmits you a certificate of cancelation required for re-registration.

Please note

if one of the parents objects to the change of school, the principal must await the decision of the family court judge seized by the parent.

You must present yourself to the management of the new school, with the following documents:

  • Certificate of Cancelation
  • Family booklet or an extract of the child's birth certificate or any other document proving the child's identity and filiation
  • Document certifying that the child has made the compulsory vaccinations for his age
