The price of the passport depends on the age of the applicant and the place of application:

From 18 years

In metropolitan France

In Australia, Canada, Spain and Portugal

You can apply to renew your passport without moving at the embassy or consulate if you meet all of the following conditions :

  • You still have your passport (it has not been lost or stolen)
  • You were at least 18 years of age on the date your current passport was issued
  • Your passport is still valid or has expired for less than 5 years
  • You are not applying for a renewal of your passport to have your birth name or first name or gender changed
  • You do not apply for a second passport (for business reasons or incompatible destinations)
  • You are registered at Register of French nationals established outside France and have in your possession consular registration number (Numic) and your e-mail address in the Register
  • You have a digital identity La Poste.
You meet all these conditions and you want to do the process without going to the embassy or consulate

In most cases, especially if your passport has expired or is soon to expire, you must provide a electronic stamp "Français de l'foreigner" of an amount of €96. You must buy this stamp on the internet:

In this case, your passport will be valid 10 years from its issuance.

Warning  

You don't have to buy an electronic stamp if you are in one of the following situations and if you agree that the new passport keeps the same expiration date as the old one :

  • There are only one or two empty pages left on your current passport
  • You change your usual name (for example, spouse's name)
  • You changed your address
  • You renew your passport to correct an error made by the administration.
