Passport: how to buy a tax stamp?

The situation varies depending on whether you live in France or abroad:
In France
The tax stamp exists only under the electronic form.
It can be bought online or in a tobacco shop :

Online
The pre-application allows you to fill in all the necessary information before the appointment and save time when submitting the file.
Pre-application is not mandatory.
1st case: you will make a pre-application on the ANTS' website
You can buy the tax stamp at the end of the procedure.
2nd case: You will use the cardboard form that will be given to you at the counter
You must buy the tax stamp on the website timbres.impots.gouv.fr before you move.
In a tobacco shop
You can buy an electronic tax stamp at a tobacco office if it is equipped with the application Authorized point of sale.
The electronic stamp is valid for 1 year from the date of purchase.
If finally you do not use the tax stamp, you can apply online for a refund in the 18 months which follow its purchase:
