French naturalization: what proof of income and taxes?

You must provide supporting documents about your resources and your tax situation to make a application for french naturalization.
Depending on your situation, prepare the following supporting documents:

You are an employee
You must provide the following:
- Work certificates (if possible, the last 3 years) or career record
- Current employment contracts indicating salary, date of entry, job held
- 3 pay slips (last 3)
- Notice of taxation or non-taxation for the last 3 years
- Salary slips for November and December of the last 3 years
- Model tax status slip P. 237 covering the last 3 years. This document must be less than 3 months old at the date of filing or sending your file.
You are a jobseeker
You must provide the following:
- Proof of registration at France Travail (formerly Pôle emploi)
- Last 3 payment slips
- All evidence of your professional activity, if possible within the last 3 years, or career record
- Notice of taxation or non-taxation for the last 3 years
- Model tax status slip P. 237 covering the last 3 years. This document must be less than 3 months old at the date of filing or sending your file.
You are a vocational trainee
You must provide the following:
- Certification of the training organization with mention of the start and end dates of the internship
- Last pay slip
- if necessary, all evidence of your professional activity, if possible within the last 3 years, or career record
- Notice of taxation or non-taxation for the last 3 years
- Model tax status slip P. 237 covering the last 3 years. This document must be less than 3 months old at the date of filing or sending your file.
You are a craftsman, trader, farmer, manager
You must provide the following:
- Extract of registration in the register of commerce or trades
- Accounting certificate showing the income from your activity
- Tax status slip of the business of which you are either a shareholder or a manager
- Notice of taxation or non-taxation for the last 3 years
- Model tax status slip P. 237 covering the last 3 years. This document must be less than 3 months old at the date of filing or sending your file.
You are a professional
You must provide the following:
- Registration with the professional order
- Proof of the resources of the last 3 years or career record
- Notice of taxation or non-taxation for the last 3 years
- Model tax status slip P. 237 covering the last 3 years. This document must be less than 3 months old at the date of filing or sending your file.
You are a micro-entrepreneur (ex-self-entrepreneur)
You must provide the following:
- Extract from the registration in the commercial register or in the register of trades
- Proof of the resources of the last 3 years or career record
- Copy of Ursssaf returns for the last 12 months (monthly or quarterly).
You are a high school student or student
In any case
You must provide the following:
- Certificate of schooling or registration card in a higher education institution for the current year
- Proof of higher education diplomas obtained in France
- Notice of taxation or non-taxation for the last 3 years
- Model tax status slip P. 237 covering the last 3 years. This document must be less than 3 months old at the date of filing or sending your file.
If you are a scholarship holder
You must provide a certificate indicating the amount of the scholarship.
If you are cared for by your parents
You must provide the following:
- Double-sided copy of their residence permit or national identity card
- Double-sided copy of their last tax or non-tax notice
- If they reside abroad, proof of payment.
If you are a teaching contractor
You must provide your contracts, if possible from the last 3 years.
You receive social benefits
You must provide the following:
- Last payment slip for the benefits received (family allowances, housing allowance, active solidarity income, etc.)
- Notice of taxation or non-taxation for the last 3 years
- Model tax status slip P. 237 covering the last 3 years. This document must be less than 3 months old at the date of filing or sending your file.
You're retired
You must provide the following:
- Pension voucher
- Last pension payment slip
- Notice of taxation or non-taxation for the last 3 years
- Model tax status slip P. 237 covering the last 3 years. This document must be less than 3 months old at the date of filing or sending your file.
You receive a pension or allowance because of a disability or invalidity
You must provide the following:
- Mobility Inclusion Card (CMI). The IJC replaced the disability card.
- Invalidity pension or allowance payment slip
- If you are disabled or disabled, notification the decision of the Commission on the Rights and Autonomy of Persons with Disabilities, which is valid, mentioning the rate of invalidity, and, if necessary, a certificate of work in a protected work structure
- Notice of taxation or non-taxation for the last 3 years
- Model tax status slip P. 237 covering the last 3 years. This document must be less than 3 months old at the date of filing or sending your file.
You are cared for by a relative (parents, spouse)
You must provide the following:
- Proof of the resources of the person taking care of you
- Notice of taxation or non-taxation for the last 3 years

- In the case of your parents, a double-sided copy of their residence permit or national identity card.
Warning
Depending on your situation, other documents may be requested.
To be accepted, documents attached to a application for french naturalization must comply with the following rules:
Deed of civil status
One deed of civil status must be provided in full and in original in the language of the country of origin.
A French civil status document must be issued within 3 months.
A copy of a foreigner civil status document must be accompanied, if necessary, by a copy of the decision in execution of which it has been drawn up, rectified or amended.
Copy or original of a document
You can provide copies of the requested documents with the exception of civil status documents.
However, you must be able to present the originals of the documents if necessary.
A copy of a foreigner act must be accompanied, if necessary, by a copy of the decision in implementation of which it has been drawn up, rectified or amended.
Translation
You must attach a French translation of each document written in a foreign language. You must provide the original translation. The translation must be done by a certified translator or authorized to intervene with the judicial or administrative authorities of another european countries. If you are abroad, contact the French Embassy or Consulate for a list of accredited translators.
The translation of a multilingual extract of a birth certificate or marriage certificate in which one of the languages is french is not necessary for a person of full age.
In addition, to avoid having to translate certain documents issued by a the European Union, one multilingual form can be joined. Consult the e-justice site for further information.
Legalization or Apostille
Certain documents issued abroad must be legalized or apostillate to be accepted in France. Ask the French embassy or consulate in the country concerned for legalization, and the embassy or consulate of the country concerned for the apostille.
