College and High School: Educational Commission

Does your child fail to meet his or her school obligations or has inappropriate behavior in his or her middle school or high school? The educational commission then examines his situation and proposes educational measures. An educational commission exists in every college and in every high school. Here is the information you need to know.

The commission examines the situation of a student who does not comply with his or her academic obligations or who behaves inappropriately.

The education commission is not a disciplinary board.

If your child is affected, you are informed of the procedure. You may, at your request, be heard by the committee.

The education commission is also consulted when an incident involves several students.

It also participates in the prevention and control of harassment and discrimination in schools.

You cannot appeal against a decision of the commission.

The Education Commission is chaired by the head of the institution or its representative.

It also includes school staff (including at least one teacher), and at least one parent.

The composition of the educational commission shall be determined by board of directors. It is listed in the from the establishment.

The head of the school may invite all the persons he deems useful to the examination of the file (class delegates, senior education advisor, etc.).

Each member must keep secret the facts of which he or she is aware during the meetings of the commission.

The committee shall be convened by the head of establishment in accordance with a procedure laid down in - of the establishment.

The Commission does not sanction your child's behavior. It seeks an educational solution adapted and personalized to the situation.

It makes your child wonder about his or her conduct and the consequences of his or her actions. For example, it may ask the individual to make a written commitment to improve his or her behavior by setting specific goals.

It monitors the personalized educational solutions implemented.
