Are you disabled and want to learn? You can enter into an apprenticeship contract and obtain a professional qualification. This apprenticeship contract takes place in a company and training center. We take stock of the information we need to know.

You can do an apprenticeship and conclude a contract to obtain a professional qualification.

Apprenticeships consist of alternating the following courses:

  • Theoretical education in an apprenticeship training center (CFA)
  • Teaching the job at the employer with whom you sign an employment contract. This contract is concluded with the employer once you are registered in a CFA.

As a disabled worker, you can benefit from special accommodations.

You must have at least 16 years (15 years and one day if you have completed the cycle of the college). There's no no age limit.

Any employer, private or public, company, association, professional can conclude an apprenticeship contract with a disabled worker.

The employer appoints, from among its staff, a learning master responsible for your training who may be the head of company or one of its employees.

The learning master acts as a liaison between the CFA and the company.

You must report every 3 months your taxable resources as an apprentice with the Family Allowance Fund (FAC) if you are covered by the general scheme, or the Social Agricultural Mutual (MSA) if you are covered by the agricultural scheme.

Depending on the nature of your disability, an adjustment of your training may be necessary. This can be specific teaching material or a layout of the premises.

If your health condition does not allow you to take your training at the CFA, you may be allowed to take this training remotely. You may also be allowed to take a distance learning course or a practical and theoretical education equivalent to that provided in a center.

These arrangements are implemented after consulting your attending physician or the doctor of the departmental home of disabled people (MDPH).

In principle, the duration of the apprenticeship contract varies, depending on the qualification prepared, between 6 months and 3 years. The maximum duration can be extended up to 4 years.
