Can I work and collect the Disabled Adult Allowance (DAA)?

Verified 01 January 2026 - Public Service / Directorate of Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)

YesIn some cases, you can combine your professional income with the Disabled Adult Allowance (DAA). The stacking rules differ depending on whether you are carrying on business in a company of ordinary working environment or in an establishment and service of accompaniment through work (Ésat).

Ordinary work environment

When you start working, your professional income is not taken into account for the first 6 months: you therefore continue to receive your Full AAH.

After these 6 months, your AAH is reduced (we talk of differential AAH). To calculate your AAH, the family allowance fund (Caf) or the agricultural social mutuality (MSA) takes into account your professional income from which it applies a abatement :

  • On the share of your income going up to €546.91 per month, the Caf or the MSA removes 80%. That means she's holding back 20% of that part of the salary.
  • On the share of your income beyond €546.91 , it removes 40%. That means she's holding back 60% of that part of the salary.

Example :

If your salary is €1,500 per month, the Caf or the MSA takes into account 20% of €546.91 first euro, or €109.38. It then takes into account 60% of the rest of the salary, or €572.15. In total, your income count for €681.53 in the calculation of your AAH.

You must report your resources to the Caf or MSA every 3 months. Quarterly reporting of resources is essential because it allows the Caf or MSA to update your AAH entitlements based on your actual income earned during the quarter.
