In principle, you cannot not have several french passports.
However, a second passport may exceptionally be issued in one of the 2 following situations :
- You are traveling for business purposes and your passport is immobilized for a period during which you must travel
- Your passport may show incompatible destinations.

Close business travel
Your passport may be detained for a period of time during which you must travel. For example, the passport can be retained by the consulate for a visa application when you need it to travel.
The documents to be submitted are the documents to be provided for any passport renewal, as well as documents attesting to your situation (employer's certificate, airline tickets...).)
Warning: issuing a second passport is not a right, but a faculty. It is the administration that sets its award criteria.
The approach varies according to the location of the request:
In France
To check if your second passport application is admissible, you must consult the website of the prefecture from which you wish to make the request. You will be able to know the competent counter and the required supporting documents.
Depending on the department, you must go either to the prefecture (or sub-prefecture) or to a town hall equipped to apply for biometric passports.
Warning
Many town halls require that the file be filed only by appointment.
Abroad
You must go to the French embassy or consulate of the country in which you reside.
