Accompanied hunting: how to hunt before getting your license?

Accompanied hunting allows a person over 15 years of age to practice hunting in the presence and under the responsibility of an escort. We present you the information you need to know (conditions to fulfill, training to follow, form to fill,…). out

The basic practical training consists of 3 parts:

Hunting safety training specific to escorts consists of 3 parts:

  • The accompanying person must attend the first 2 exercises of the basic practical training followed by the candidate for authorization to hunt (evolution on a simulated hunting course with blank shooting and positioning on a line of batter with large game). During these first 2 exercises, the guide may observe either the candidate for the hunting authorization that he is intended to accompany, or any other candidate for this authorization
  • The accompanying person must participate as an accompanist on 3e practical exercise of basic training followed by the applicant for authorization to hunt (positioning alongside a hunting companion). During this 3e In this exercise, the role of the person accompanied may be performed by the applicant for authorization to hunt or by a trainer from the departmental or interdepartmental federation of hunters.

Deadline for making the request

You must apply for permission to hunt accompanied at the latest within 12 months from the date of basic practical training.

You must also attach the following documents:

  • Duplex copy of a identity document
  • Attestation participation in basic practical training.

The application form for accompanied hunting authorization shall contain the following statements and attestations:

  • Declaration of Honor certifying that you have never been deprived of the right to obtain or hold a hunting permit by court order (if you are a minor, the declaration of honor is signed by your legal representative)
  • Declaration on the honor of each person responsible for accompanying attesting that they have had a hunting permit for more than 5 years, that they have never been deprived by court order of the right to obtain or hold a hunting permit and that they have insurance covering their civil liability for this support
  • Attestation of participation in hunting safety training of each of the persons responsible for accompanying
  • Authorization of your legal representative if you are a minor or adult under guardianship.

The application file for authorization to hunt accompanied is to be sent to the departmental federation of hunters (FDC) where you have taken the basic practical training.

However, a financial contribution may be requested to participate in basic practical training and escort-specific hunting safety training.

The authorization is not renewable and can only be issued once per person.

The authorized person (accompanied hunter) and the accompanying hunter may have at most one gun for two at the hunting ground.

This weapon can be a rifle, a rifle or a bow.

Warning  

If you have under 16, you can't own a gun. You can only use the weapon of the hunter who accompanies you.

Hunting without a hunting license shall be punished by a fine of up to €1,500.
