Your child is in middle school or high school and you want to know what the class council ? Composition, role, organization, process, decisions: here is the information you need to know about the class council. The rules differ in middle school and high school.
At the college
At the college, the class council is responsible for monitoring and evaluating your child's achievements.
The Class Council is composed of the following members:
- Head of the institution that presides over it
- Teachers of the class
- 2 student delegates
- 2 delegates from parents of pupils
- Senior Education Advisor (CPE)
- Psychologist of National Education
- School doctor, social worker or nurse, when the board must consider the personal case of a student.
The class council shall meet at least 3 times in the year, at the initiative of the head of the institution.
All members of the council are summoned to attend.
Summonses are not necessarily nominative.
The class council first studies the situation general of the class and then the situation of each pupil.
1Study of the general situation of the class
The main teacher or a representative of the teaching team first presents a general assessment of the class. It then presents the guidance advice provided by the educational team.
The EPC: titleContent provides an update on the situation regarding truancy and school life.
The delegates of parents of pupils and the class delegates they ask questions or make remarks on all aspects of the life of the class (checks, homework, replacement of a teacher...). Delegates of parents of pupils may also communicate information from other parents.
2Study of the situation of each student
The class council examines the progress of each student's schooling (results and assessments of teachers for all subjects, need for support) to better accompany him in his school journey.
Delegates note down all information about each student. They can intervene to support a student.
Class delegates and parents' delegates remain in the room when their or their child's education is discussed.
Please note
from class of 4e, your child may be invited to participate in the presentation of his/her situation during the class council.
The class council agrees on a general assessment which will be recorded on the periodic review of your child. It may give it an entry entered in (for example: encouragement, congratulations).
If your child feels that he or she is in difficulty at school, he or she may suggest setting up a support system.
The repetition must be exceptional. It can be pronounced when a pedagogical support device has not allowed to put an end to the significant learning difficulties of your child.
The repetition decision is yours notified. You have 3 working days to let the superintendent know if you accept this decision, or if you decide to appeal to an appeal board.
The appeal board shall be chaired by the Dasen: titleContent and includes school leaders, teachers, parents, and education and guidance staff.
You and your child (with your consent) can request to be heard by the commission.
The decision of the appeal board is valid final guidance decision.
A repetition must be accompanied by specific pedagogical measures for the student (through a personalized educational success program for example).
End of year of 3e, the class council makes you a proposal for guidance.

The class council is a pedagogical body. This is not a disciplinary proceeding. He cannot therefore pronounce penalty.
The representatives of parents of pupils receive the same documents as the other class council members.
Each parent representative must report on the class council in which he or she participates.
It must, however respect the principle of confidentiality. Thus, the report cannot refer to individual cases, nor can it name the students.
The conditions for the dissemination of these reports are defined in consultation between the school director and the parents' associations.
In high school
