Your child is in middle school and you are wondering about his orientation? Support, guidance decisions: here is the information to know about the guidance of your child of the 6e to 3e.

6th

In the school

You and your child can get advice from their senior professor.

You can also make an appointment with the National Education Psychologist (specialized in counseling in school and vocational guidance) which regularly intervenes in colleges.

Outside the school

You and your child can go to a information and guidance center (IOC).

You can also go to a youth information and documentation center (CIDJ). This structure welcomes and informs young people free of charge on all subjects of interest to them, in particular on career choices and professional life.

At 2e trimester, you ask for your child's transition to upper class or repetition.

The class council responds provisionally.

If you are not satisfied with the answer, a dialog will take place between you and the principal teacher.

At 3e Quarter, you make definite guidance wishes.

The class council responds by taking into account your child's balance sheet. Two types of decisions can be made:

  • The board is in agreement with your request. The proposal is then yours notified.
  • The board disagrees with your request. An interview with the head of the establishment is then offered. If this interview does not lead to an agreement, the head of the establishment notifies you of his decision, giving the reasons. You have 3 working days to appeal this decision to an appeal board.

The appeal board shall be chaired by the Dasen: titleContent and includes school leaders, teachers, parents, and education and guidance staff.

You and your child can ask to be heard by the commission.

The decision taken by the appeal board is a final policy decision.

The repetition can be pronounced when a pedagogical support device has not made it possible to put an end to the significant learning difficulties of a student.

A repetition must be accompanied by specific pedagogical measures for the student (implementation of a personalized educational success program for example).

Your child can redouble only once during school, before the end of college. If your child has interrupted school, a 2nde a decision on repetition may be taken after the prior agreement of the Dasen: titleContent.

In addition, your child chooses the 2e foreign or regional language starting in 5e.

One personalized orientation interview is organized by the senior professor. You participate with your child.

This interview allows you to learn about the sectors and possible outlets. It also allows you to set the steps and steps necessary to prepare your child's orientation.

The assignment decision is taken by Dasen. In particular, it takes into account the orientation decision taken by the class council and the number of places available in the establishments.

In making its decision, Dasen relies on the national Affelnet-Lycée application.

The procedure ends at the end of June. The results of the assignment are then published on the website of your academy.
