Apa: what are Gir 1, Gir 2, Gir 3 and Gir 4 of the Aggir grid?

The grid Act: titleContent is used to assess the level of loss of independence of an elderly person. At the end of the assessment, the elderly person is classified in 1 of the 6 Gir: titleContent Depending on their IRM, the elderly person may or may not receive the Personalized Autonomy Allowance (Apa). We present you the information to know.

When making a request Personalized Autonomy Allocation (Apa)However, the loss of autonomy of the elderly person is assessed using a grid Act: titleContent.

This grid measures the ability of the elderly person to accomplish:

  • 10 bodily and mental activities, said discriminatory activities. The results obtained are used to determine the Gir: titleContent, i.e. the degree of loss of autonomy of the elderly person.
  • 7 domestic and social activities, say illustrative activities. The results obtained provide additional information to better understand the overall situation of the elderly person.

These activities are:

  • Communicate verbally and/or not verbally, act and behave logically and sensibly in relation to the standards accepted by the business
  • Finding your way in space and time
  • Grooming
  • Dress, undress
  • Serving and eating
  • Ensure the hygiene of urinary and fecal elimination
  • Stand up, lie down, sit down, move from one of these 3 positions to another
  • Moving around inside the living space
  • Moving outside the living environment
  • Use a means of remote communication (telephone, alarm, doorbell, etc.) in order to alert if necessary.

These activities are:

  • Prepare meals and condition them so that they can be served
  • Manage your business, budget and assets, recognize the monetary value of coins and notes, use money and know the value of things, carry out administrative procedures, fill out forms
  • Perform all routine household work
  • Voluntarily use a means of public or individual transport
  • Voluntary purchase of goods
  • Respect the doctor's prescription and manage your own treatment
  • Practice voluntarily, alone or in groups, various leisure activities.

The Aggir grid is integrated into an assessment framework that collects all the information needed to develop the elderly person's assistance plan. The aid plan shall indicate the Gir, the aid financed by the Home Apa, the total amount of such aid and the rate of financial participation (or remains charged) calculated taking into account the resources of the elderly person.

Apa (at home or in an institution)

Gir 1

A person confined to bed or chair, whose mental functions are severely impaired. The continued presence of stakeholders is essential.

Gir 2

  • A person confined to bed or chair, whose mental functions are not totally impaired, but whose state of health requires care for most activities of daily living
  • A person whose mental functions are impaired, who is able to move, but who requires constant monitoring

Gir 3

A person who has retained all or part of his mental autonomy, partially his locomotor autonomy, but who needs daily and several times a day assistance for bodily care

Gir 4

  • Either a person who does not assume his transfers alone but who, once lifted, can move inside his dwelling. Person who may need help with grooming and dressing. No one eating alone or not.
  • Either someone who does not have locomotor problems, but who must be helped with bodily activities and meals

An elderly person who receives the Apa may request a reassessment of the degree of loss of autonomy, when the person's state of health changes or when the caregiver wishes to have a break. To do this, you must contact the medical-social team that carried out the previous evaluation.

An elderly person classified as Gir 5 or Gir 6 in a previous application for Apa, but whose state of health now requires classification in another Gir, may file a new application Apa request.
