From 1er March 2026, in the event of pregnancy-related difficulties, pregnant women working in the civil service (civil servants and contract workers in CDD or CDI) will be able to benefit from extended leave for pathological diapers.

Pathological diaper leave is additional leave to maternity leave that may be granted in case of risks or complications related to pregnancy or childbirth.

Such leave shall consist of:

  • in a period which may be granted before maternity leave at any time during pregnancy;
  • and/or in a period that may be granted after maternity leave.

The maximum duration of prenatal pathological leave is increased to 21 calendar days (from 14). This leave can be split and mobilized from the date of the declaration of pregnancy to the date of the start of the statutory maternity leave. Like maternity leave, it benefits from full maintenance of remuneration.

Please note

The duration of postnatal pathological leave remains unchanged. It is set at 4 weeks (28 calendar days).
