The Vitale card is now essential to benefit from the third-party payment

In the face of a large number of frauds and misuse of medicines, the Health Insurance reinforces the conditions of use of the Vital Card. Service-Public.fr informs you and introduces you to the installation tutorial of the Vitale card on smartphone, a solution that can allow you to always have it with you!

In agreement with the pharmacists' unions, the Health Insurance now makes the presentation of the Vital card (physical or digital) mandatory for persons benefiting from the third-party payment. If you do not show your Vital Card, you will need to advance the prescribed medication fee.

This includes “sensitive” drugs (drugs, some antidiabetics, some expensive treatments). Issuance without a Vital Card will only be possible in exceptional situations, for infants under 3 months of age or for elderly people in Ehpad for example.

When you are a beneficiary of the third-party payment, presenting the Vitale card allows you not to advance the fees. The pharmacist will also be able to access your "shared medical record" to make sure the treatment is right for you.

Reminder

Persons receiving medical assistance from the State (AME) are also required to present their AME cards.

How to settle the Vitale card on your smartphone?

Do you know that you can now save your Vitale card to your smartphone, and still have it in your possession? You must have an identity card in bank card format (CNIe) to be able to save it in your mobile phone via the France Identity application.

If you do not have a CNIe, there is a specific activation path.

Find all the steps of the process in a tutorial offered by the Health Insurance.
