You can open a livret A, whether you are a minor or an adult; it can be opened at any bank (most online banks also offer this regulated savings product).

The minimum amount of a deposit on the livret A is 10 € (1,5 € if you have opened your livret A at La Banque Postale). There is no obligation to make periodic payments. You can deposit or withdraw money at any time.

When your booklet HAS reached the regulatory ceiling, set at €22,950, you can no longer deposit money there. However, the interest generated each year continues to be added even beyond this ceiling, and without limit, as long as your booklet remains open.

The accumulated interest is added to the capital of your livret A on December 31 of each year. This interest is exempt from income tax and social security contributions.

You can find all the details of the livret A on our practical sheet.
