Publié le 29 janvier 2025 - Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)

Mentalo is an application to participate in a major study on the mental health of youth aged 11 to 24. The results of this survey conducted by Inserm are intended to identify factors that promote or degrade the mental well-being of persons in this age group.

Why this application?

The National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Inserm) is launching a survey of young people through its application Mentalo. The aim of this platform is to better understand the expectations of young people aged 11 to 24, in order to provide them with personalized support and to prevent and/or treat as soon as possible the deterioration of their mental health.

Young people's unwell-being can take on different aspects: depression, anxiety, distress, loneliness... The sources can be diverse: education, guidance, educational or professional future, family, politics and the state of the world.

How does it work?

The first time you log on to Mentalo, the 4 steps of the procedure are indicated to you:

  • “Talk about yourself”
  • “Give 7 times news in 5 minutes”
  • “Follow your progress”
  • “Be an ambassador by inviting your friends”

The data is confidential.

You must first create your account.

The survey then includes a series of 4 questions that assess the level of depression and anxiety, with additional modules developed by the youth. Voice capability also allows them to answer questions.

The questionnaire takes about 5 minutes and each participant will be interviewed 7 times over 1 year via the application.

FYI

More than 300 schoolchildren, high school students, students and active youth in Paris and the surrounding regions took part in the development of the questions, bringing their personal knowledge and subtleties into the questions, such as on the subject of sleep for example.

Please note

The application will be active until May 2026.
