Gender-based behavior: supportive measures

January 25 is National Day Against Sexism. It comes as the latest report of the High Council for Gender Equality on the state of sexism in France is published. The Ministry of the Interior recalled the accompanying measures proposed to deal with sexist behavior.

In 2023, 3,400 gender-based contempt offenses were identified by police and gendarmerie services, according to the Internal Security Statistics Service, an increase of 19% from 2022. The report of the High Council for Gender Equality published on January 22, 2025, confirms the rise of sexism in France.

Reminder

The concept of sexism entered the labor code in 2015 and is defined as: “Any act related to the sex of a person, with the object or effect of violating his or her dignity or creating an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive environment.”
