3919 supports women victims of violence

November 25 is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. On this occasion, Public Service reminds you that there is a number dedicated to victims of domestic violence: 3919.

3919 provides a first reception for all women victims of gender-based violence. Depending on their situation, women are referred to the local or national partner associations best able to provide a response or support.

Calls may involve all types of gender-based violence : domestic violence, sexual violence, forced marriage, female genital mutilation, violence at work.

The 3919

3919 is:

  • a free and anonymous number;
  • a 24/7 number;
  • a number accessible to the deaf and hard of hearing;
  • a number reachable by mobile or landline in metropolitan France and the overseas departments;
  • a team of professional listeners who provide information on how to deal with a situation of violence;
  • a number that is also addressed to the victims' entourage and the professionals concerned.

The 3919 offers listening in 12 different languages, in addition to French (the people providing this service are only present on certain slots, we will suggest you to call back at the adapted times): English, Arabic, Creole, Dari, Spanish, Hebrew, Kabyle, Mandarin, Persian, Polish, Portuguese and Turkish.

The digital platform for reporting offenses against persons and accompanying victims (PNAV) is open to all victims of sexual and gender-based violence (men and women). Accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, it offers 3 chats with a police officer or a gendarme for 3 types of offenses: sexual violence, domestic violence, discrimination and hate crimes.

Solidarity Women

The 3919 is worn by the National Federation Solidarity Women and supported by the State Secretariat for Gender Equality.

The Solidarity Women website informs you (what does the law say? the role of the lawyer, psychological harassment, the situation of foreign women, etc.) and tells you the procedure to follow in terms of procedures.

The Federation also relies on a network of 81 specialized associations spread throughout the country, offering women:

  • accommodation arrangements or within specialized reception areas;
  • more than 3,000 places for emergency or longer-term accommodation (50% of places dedicated to women victims of violence in France);
  • day care centers and outreach centers (in hospitals, town halls, police stations, gendarmeries, etc.).
