Energy checks are sent to the beneficiaries of the scheme from 1er April 2026.

Beneficiaries are identified by crossing the following information:

  • tax data, including the reference tax income and the number of persons connected to the tax household of the holder of the electricity supply contract;
  • the electricity delivery point number of the dwelling.

This information shall be transmitted to the Payment and Services Agency by the tax authorities, as well as by public electricity distribution system operators and electricity suppliers.

If you are identified as eligible for the device, the check will be sent to you automatically by the Payment and Services Agency.

You can consult the estimated sending schedule of energy checks, depending on the department, for automatically identified beneficiaries (this schedule applies to recipients who receive the paper check).

Warning

You must be vigilant about the messages you receive about the energy check. Fraudulent emails may be sent to you.

No administration will ask you for your bank details to allow you to benefit from the device.

How much for the energy check in 2026?

The amount of energy checks varies from €48 to €277, depending on income and the composition of the tax household.

You can find the scale used for the device, with the amount of aid according to your situation, on our factsheet dedicated to the energy check (section “How much is the energy check?”).

Reminder

You can use your energy check for the following expenses:

  • the energy supply bills (electricity, gas, fuel oil, etc.) for your home;
  • the energy charges included in your charge, if you are housed in a residential home with a PLA agreement, in a residential facility for dependent or non-dependent elderly people (HOME CARE or EHPA), in an independent residence, in a long-term care facility or unit (LTCF, LTCF). If you live in a social housing, you can give your check to your social landlord for the payment of your rental charges including energy charges.

Energy checks can no longer be used to pay for energy retrofits. “Work vouchers” issued before February 15, 2025, however, remain usable until their expiry date for an energy renovation operation.

What if you haven't received a check when you think you're eligible?

Potential beneficiaries, to whom an energy check has not been automatically forwarded, will receive from 1er April an email, text message and/or postal mail informing them of this possible help.

In addition, you can use the device simulator to verify your eligibility for the energy check.

If you think you are eligible but have not received an energy check, you can apply for this financial assistance until December 31, 2026. A demand platform is available on the energy check website. Requests can also be made by post.

Please note

Energy checks, traditionally sent in paper format, are now available in digital version as well. The “e-Chèque énergie” service allows you to:

  • consult your overall balance in e-Check available in your beneficiary account on the energy check website;
  • pay your energy bills, using all or part of your balance with your various energy suppliers if they accept this means of payment.

To activate this service, you must log in to your “beneficiary” account of energy check site.
