Change in off-peak hours as of November 1, 2025

Publié le 02 octobre 2025 - Directorate of Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)

Off-peak hours are time slots where electricity consumption is lower, allowing households to benefit from a reduced rate on the price per kilowatt hour (kWh). From 1er November 2025, the peak/off-peak time slots are evolving. Public Service explain.

Enedis and the French Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) set off-peak hours according to the needs of the grid and electricity production, particularly solar. Suppliers then inform their customers of their assigned schedules, usually via the invoice or online customer space.

The 8 daily off-peak hours will be divided into two periods:

  • at night: between 11pm and 7am, with at least 5 consecutive hours;
  • the day: between 11am and 5pm, with up to 3 hours off.

In summer (1er april – october 31): more off-peak hours during the day to take advantage of the peak solar production.

In winter (1er November – March 31): off-peak hours will be mainly at night, when solar production is lower.

Enedis will communicate customers' new off-peak time ranges to their suppliers 6 months prior to their update, allowing them to notify their customers at least one month prior to the actual change.

To fully enjoy these beaches, you need to:

  • reprogram your energy-intensive equipment (water heaters, washing machines, electric vehicles, etc.);
  • use programmers or connected sockets.

To accompany these developments, the Energy Regulatory Commission is putting online FAQs for consumers to answer practical questions.

Please note

Historically used morning (7am-11am) and evening (5pm-11pm) time slots will be phased out.

FYI

Approximately 11 million households are affected by the change of schedules, the new off-peak time ranges will be gradually allocated from 1er November 2025 and until the end of 2027.
