Reusable hygienic protections refunded from October 1st

From 1er In October 2026, reusable hygienic protections will be fully or partially reimbursed for all women under 26 years of age and for beneficiaries of the Complementary Solidarity Health (C2S). Public Service inform you.

Passed as part of the Social Security Financing Act for 2024, this measure will enter into force from 1er October 2026, as indicated an order of 6 august 2026.

The coverage of reusable periodic protections will apply to all insured persons under 26 years of age (without means test), as well as beneficiaries of the Complementary Solidarity Health (C2S) without age test.

Decree No. 2026-288 published in the Official journal of the French Republic of 18 April 2026 provides for the support of 2 categories of protection:

  • menstrual cups;
  • menstrual panties.

It will be limited to 2 products per year, the statement starting on the date of the first purchase and being renewed « from date to date ».

The Health Insurance will reimburse between 55 and 65% for women who meet the age requirement, with a balance to be covered by the mutual insurance. C2S recipients will receive 100% reimbursement.

The coverage of these various periodic protections concerns products delivered in pharmacies.

Please note

Specific care modalities are defined for the products concerned (coverage by the Health Insurance is subject to their inclusion on a list drawn up by the Ministry of Health). In particular, they must guarantee safety and security. Menstrual pants must be certified Oeko-Tex Standard 100 class I or class II, a standard that ensures that products in contact with the skin are free of harmful substances. The menstrual cup must have a European Ecolabel certification or have been tested according to ISO 10993-1 for medical devices in contact with the body. Technical capacities are also specified: absorption capacity at least greater than 12 ml for menstrual pants; capacities less than or equal to 20 ml/between 20 ml and 30 ml for menstrual cup.
