Reusable hygienic protections reimbursed at the start of the school year

Voted in the framework of the Social Security Financing Act for 2024, the coverage of reusable periodic protections will concern all women under 26 years (without means test) as well as beneficiaries of the Complementary Health Solidarity (C2S) without age test. This measure will come into effect at the start of the 2026 academic year.

Decree No. 2026-288 published in the Official Journal of 18 April 2026 restricts the coverage that can be refunded to two categories:

• menstrual cups;
• menstrual panties.

The care will be limited to two products per year. The count will start on the date of the first purchase and will be renewed “from date to date”.

The Health Insurance will reimburse between 55 and 65% for women under 26 years, with a balance to be covered by your health insurance. On the other hand, the purchase will be fully covered for the beneficiaries of the Complementary Health Solidarity.
