Seasonal workers: help you find housing

You are a seasonal worker and you are having difficulty finding a place to rent, due to a lack of a solid deposit? To remedy this situation, you can use the VISALE guarantee, a system that ensures that landlords cover any damage and pay the rent in case of unpaid.

The VISALE warranty helps secure your file when you are looking to access the rental park. With this service, the Action Logement organization is the guarantor for you free, thus strengthening your tenant candidate file. Under this scheme, it is foreseen that:

  • your unpaid rent is covered for up to 9 months (when you benefit from the scheme as a seasonal worker);
  • rental damage are covered (Action Logement ensures the payment of the costs of rehabilitation of the housing in the event of rental damage attributable to you, excluding the costs of restoration of furniture, within the limit of 2 months of rents and charges entered in the lease for the dwellings belonging to the private rental stock).

In the event of unpaid payments covered by the system, you must then reimburse Action Logement according to a schedule; the latter can be adjusted to take into account your financial situation.

Reminder

The VISALE guarantee scheme also applies to:

  • private sector employees over 30 years of age who receive a monthly salary of €1,500 or less net, or who are in a situation of professional change (permanent contract or fixed-term contract for less than 6 months, employees transferring or benefiting from a promise of employment);
  • to tenants of a mobility lease ;
  • young people aged 18 to 30, regardless of their professional situation (employee, civil servant, student or work-study/apprentice, unemployed, etc.).

What are the conditions to benefit from the VISALE guarantee as seasonal?

To benefit from the VISALE guarantee as a seasonal worker:

  • your employment contract must be explicitly marked “seasonal” (this contract must be in progress at the time of your application to benefit from the scheme, or you must have a promise of employment for a job starting within 3 months);
  • you must be at least 18 years old;
  • your primary residence must be outside the employment pool of your seasonal mission ;
  • the rent of the accommodation for which you benefit from the VISALE guarantee must not exceed € 600 (€ 800 in Île-de-France).

You can apply online to benefit from the VISALE guarantee, after having tested your eligibility for the device. Once your request has been validated by Action Logement, you have a reliable guarantor who will exempt you from any other deposit.

As a seasonal worker, you can also benefit from other measures implemented by Action Logement:

  • the LOCA-PASS ADVANCE (or AGRI-LOCA-PASS ADVANCE, if you are an employee in the agricultural sector), which is financing in the form of a loan at a rate of 0% of the payment of your security deposit, an amount generally required at the time of signing a lease;

  • the temporary housing platform, on which you can find ads for furnished accommodation with a surface area of 15 to 20 m² offered for temporary rental.

As a seasonal agricultural worker, you can also benefit from a help with a lump sum of 150 € per month for your accommodation costs ; you can collect it when you have a seasonal employment contract and a rental contract simultaneously. This free device can be requested up to 6 months after the start of your seasonal activity. The aid can be paid for a maximum of 4 months.
