APL upgraded to 1 October

Personalized housing benefit (APL) is a housing benefit paid by the Family allowance fund (Caf) to persons who meet the conditions for eligibility. Every year at 1^er in october, it is upgraded on the basis of changes in the rent benchmark of 2^e quarter of the current year. In 2026, the IRL grew by 1.15% over one year (in mainland France, Corsica and the overseas regions and departments).

The APL is therefore increasing by 1.15% to 1^er October 2026. In October 2025, its revaluation was 1.04%.

What is the APL?

Each APL request is customized. The amount of aid is calculated according to housing expenditure parameters and resource parameters. In particular, the following elements shall be taken into account:

• the amount of your rent;
• the number of dependants usually living in your household;
• the amount of your resources and, if applicable, the amount of the resources of the person with whom you live as a couple and of the persons usually living in your household;
• the value of your real estate and financial assets and, if applicable, the value of the assets of the person with whom you live as a couple and of the persons usually living in your household. This value is taken into account only if it is greater than € 30,000.

When does the APL upgrade take place?

The APL increase is automatically implemented by the Family allowance fund (Caf) or the Agricultural social mutual fund (MSA). Check on your online account that the revaluation has been taken into account and that the discounted amount has been paid. If you have a problem with the amount being updated, contact your Caf or MSA.

Be careful, Caf takes into consideration the date on which the request for assistance was made and shall pay compensation to its recipients at the beginning of the month following that application.
