Want to buy an electric car? You can benefit from a financial assistance called “Coup de pouce véhicules particuliers électriques” until 31 december 2025 inclusive. We tell you what you need to know.

The Coup de pouce EV premium is an aid under the Energy savings certificate scheme (EEC), via the standard information sheet TRA-EQ-117.

From 1er October 2025, a additional premium is added to the premium “boost for electric passenger vehicles” if the vehicle is assembled in Europe and equipped with a European battery.

The bonus is for natural persons residing in France.

Vehicles concerned

The vehicle must meet all of the following conditions:

  • Be a vehicle of category M1
  • Be a vehicle whose PTAC: titleContent is not more than 3,5 tons
  • Be bought or rented. The operation must be initiated before 1 January 2026 (date of acceptance of quotation or order or rental contract) and completed before 30 June 2026 (date of invoice or lease).
  • Being a new vehicle (1re vehicle registration)
  • Using electricity as an exclusive source of energy
  • The acquisition cost must be less than or equal to €47,000 TTC: titleContent, including, if necessary, the cost of acquiring or renting the battery
  • The mass in running order must be less than 2 400 kg
  • The environmental score must be 60 points or more. You can view the list of vehicles with this score online

A vehicle previously assigned to the demonstration by a dealer or brand agent is eligible for the premium if the purchase or leasing occurs within 3 to 12 months of its first registration.

Number of vehicles per beneficiary

You can benefit from the premium for the purchase or rental of 5 vehicles maximum.

Duration

In the case of a rental, the duration of the contract shall be 2 years or more, out tacit renewal.

In the case of a purchase, you must keep the vehicle 2 years or more.

From 1er October 2025, a additional premium shall be added to the premium if the vehicle is produced in Europe.

One additional premium shall be added to the ‘Electric Passenger Vehicle Boost’ premium if the following conditions are met:

Other vehicle

The amount of the premium varies depending on your income. The households are divided into 3 categories according to their income: modest, energy-poor, other household.

Category ‘other household’

One household belongs to the category ‘other household’ if its income is equal to or higher than the income ceilings of the category ‘modest household’:

The reference tax revenue (RFR) of the persons making up the household are added together. The calculation is based on the tax or non-tax notices for year N-2 in relation to the reference date. As an exception, tax or non-tax notices for year N-1 may be used if available.

For example, for a quote accepted in 2025, the 2023 RFRs are taken into account. The 2024 RFRs can also be used if available.

You can ask for information from a company signatory of the “Coup de pouce véhicules particuliers électriques” commitment charter. The list of these companies is downloadable from the website of the ministry of ecological transition. The list gives access to the websites of each company, which allows to compare offers.

You can also contact a professional (dealer, distributor, renter, etc.) directly and ask him if he is partner of a signatory company the ‘Coup de pouce véhicules particuliers électriques’ commitment charter.

Once the offer is chosen, you can apply for the premium and provide the supporting documents requested by the company (proof of identity, tax or non-tax notice, quotation or order form or signed rental contract…).

Depending on the company (dealer, distributor, etc.) you are using to buy or rent a car, the premium may be:

  • either advanced (deduction of the purchase price on the invoice),
  • paid after purchase.

The premium boost “electric passenger vehicles” is not cumulative with the ecological bonus or with the other aid introduced under the energy savings certificates scheme, in particular the social leasing.
