Soliciting by telephone for energy renovation work or for the adaptation of housing for the elderly or disabled

Since 1er July 2025, the law provides for specific rules for better protect consumers when they are approached by telephone for energy renovation work or for the adaptation of housing for elderly people or people with disabilities.

The professional must have the necessary qualifications or authorizations. Otherwise, these calls are prohibited.

These rules apply in addition to other obligations : respect of schedules, limitation of the number of calls, clear information on the identity and commercial character of the call.

In case of non-compliance, enhanced criminal and administrative sanctions may be pronounced: up to 2 years in prison and €300,000 of a fine.

SMS Spam is an unwanted SMS. This SMS prompts you to call back a type overcharged number 089..., 081... or 082--to pretend a lottery win, for example. Such practices may fall under a scam attempt.

You can also receive commercial offers by SMS without wanting to defraud you.

The company usually offers to send the message STOP by SMS to stop these SMS.

To block an unwanted message received by SMS, you must forward that message to the number 33700.

To facilitate the processing of this message, do not add any comments.

Who shall I contact

When you report an SMS spam to 33700, it is transmitted to the mobile phone operator issuing the number used for the spam and to your mobile operator (if it is not the same). They can then lead various actions :

  • Cut the premium SMS number that SMS SPAM prompts you to send a message to
  • Cut the premium phone number that SMS SPAM prompts you to call (number starting with 08, or 4-digit number starting with 3)
  • Cut the number sending SMS SPAM (number starting with 06, 07, or +336, or +337)
  • In the most serious cases, a complaint can be lodged with the police services concerned.

Sending an SMS to 33,700 is free if you are a customer with one of the following operators:

  • Auchan Telecom
  • Bouygues Telecom
  • CIC Mobile
  • Cofidis Mobile
  • Crédit Mutuel Mobile
  • NRJ Mobile
  • Orange
  • SFR.

For other operators, the service can cost the price of a normal SMS.

In addition, some phones offer to block spam by SMS. Your operator can offer such an application.

Once you have forwarded the message to 33700, you will receive the following message from 33700: “To complete your report, return to 33700 the number that sent you the unwanted message”. A final message from 33700 informs you that the report is complete.

To make this message easier to process, do not add any comments to your message.

When you report spam to 33700, the effect is not immediate. Processing spam requires the operator to have received several reports and to take measures that may take time to implement.
